Xbox Game Pass Expands Its January Lineup With a Family-Friendly Game

Xbox Game Pass members can now play a fun new mystery game called My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery. Xbox Game Pass is a service that lets you access a changing selection of games for a monthly subscription. There are four different plans available: Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC. The Essential plan is the most affordable, giving you access to 50 games and online multiplayer. The Ultimate plan is the most comprehensive, offering the entire Game Pass library (including new releases), high-quality cloud streaming, and access to EA Play and Ubisoft+ Classics.

Xbox Game Pass subscriptions recently became more expensive, especially the Ultimate plan, which saw a price increase of almost 50%. Microsoft explained this change by highlighting the service’s large collection of over 500 games and added benefits, like the Fortnite Crew membership included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. While some gamers aren’t happy with the higher cost, the different subscription levels allow those who want a basic game selection to choose a more affordable option.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Ultimate, Premium, and PC now have access to My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, a well-received game originally released in May 2024. Players can explore the colorful city of Zephyr Heights in Equestria and interact with popular characters like Sunny, Hitch, and Pipp. The game lets you switch between different ponies, each with special abilities, to solve mysteries, complete quests, and enjoy fun minigames like taking photos and delivering smoothies.

Strange things are happening in the sky city of Zephyr Heights – phones are turning into pizza and gravity is going haywire! As the player, you’ll need to solve the mystery, and you can even team up with a friend in co-op mode. Plus, the game lets you customize your pony’s look with a variety of accessories like sunglasses and headsets.

As a longtime fan, I’ve seen My Little Pony pop up in games quite a bit! Zephyr Heights Mystery isn’t their first game, not by a long shot. We’ve had mobile games like Magic Princess and Harmony Quest, and the community has done amazing things with games like Minecraft and Roblox. In Minecraft, fans built the whole town of Ponyville! And on Roblox, there are tons of role-playing games where you can live in the My Little Pony world. It’s even gone beyond that – there are mods for games like Skyrim that turn the first dragon into a giant Fluttershy, and one that makes all the villagers in Stardew Valley ponies! It’s awesome to see the franchise embraced in so many creative ways.

Aside from the recent addition of My Little Pony, Xbox Game Pass is consistently adding games across many different genres. January has already seen some major titles join the service, including the first Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and Star Wars Outlaws for PC and Ultimate subscribers. Plus, three more games are confirmed to be coming to Game Pass this month, giving players a lot to enjoy.
