Xbox Game Pass Has a Strong Fall 2024 Lined Up Even Without 1 Exclusive

Highlights

  • Avowed delayed to Feb 2025 to clear space for other Xbox exclusives on Game Pass launch.
  • Xbox Game Pass lineup for Fall 2024 strong even without Avowed, with various titles.
  • Delay benefits Avowed & other games to shine, offering room for smaller Indie experiences.

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say I’ve seen my fair share of delays in the gaming industry. However, the recent news about the delay of Obsidian Entertainment’s highly-anticipated title, Avowed, has left me both disappointed and intrigued.

Recently, The Verge’s Tom Warren announced a delay for the eagerly anticipated Obsidian fantasy action-RPG, “Avowed.” Originally speculated to release in November 2024, it has now been moved to February 18, 2025. Shortly after, Xbox officially confirmed this shift, explaining that the decision was made to provide players some respite for their game backlogs and suggesting a lineup of upcoming exclusives destined for Xbox Game Pass upon launch.

In The Verge’s initial article, they mentioned that Xbox decided to postpone the release of “Avowed” until 2025. This move seems to be due to the need for “Avowed” to avoid clashing with the new November launch of “STALKER 2”, which has also experienced a delay. However, it’s important to note that “STALKER 2” is not the only significant first-party game coming to Xbox Game Pass this Fall. While many fans were excited about “Avowed”, it looks like Xbox Game Pass will still thrive without it in 2021.

Xbox Game Pass’ Fall 2024 Line-Up Can Survive Without Avowed

Xbox Game Pass Still Has Plenty of Games Lined Up for Fall 2024

It was previously speculated that “Avowed” would come out in November 2024, but unfortunately, it seems there’s been a delay. Despite this setback, there are several highly anticipated Xbox games scheduled for release around the same time. One of the first is “Age of Mythology: Retold,” a reimagining of an old real-time strategy favorite that drops on September 4. Interestingly, the strategy genre appears to be taking over Xbox Game Pass in September 2024, with “Frostpunk 2” and “Ara: History Untold” also joining the roster later in the month.

As an enthusiastic gamer, I’m thrilled to share that although only one Xbox Game Pass day-one title has been confirmed for October 2024 as of now, it’s a massive one – the highly anticipated “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.” What makes this even more exciting is that this will be the first “Call of Duty” game and the very first game from Activision-Blizzard to grace Xbox Game Pass on its release day, October 25. Moving forward into November, the subscription service is already lined up to receive “Flight Simulator 2024” and the long-awaited “STALKER 2,” which has been eagerly awaited for years, having faced four significant delays.

As a longtime gaming enthusiast who has been following the industry for over two decades now, I must say that the upcoming Xbox Game Pass line-up for Fall 2024 is nothing short of exhilarating! Even though we haven’t seen much gameplay yet, the promise of titles like “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” and Stoic Studio’s “Towerborne” has me absolutely buzzing with anticipation. I vividly remember the thrill of playing classic Indiana Jones games back in my youth, and the prospect of stepping into that legendary adventurer’s shoes once more is truly a dream come true. Similarly, the idea of exploring the world of Towerborne, created by the talented minds at Stoic Studio, has me eager to embark on another epic adventure.

Avowed’s Delay Allows For Some Breathing Room on Xbox Game Pass

Ultimately, postponing the release of Avowed might turn out to be beneficial for the game. Although it won’t replicate the expansive RPG experience found in games like The Witcher 3 or Skyrim, Avowed will undoubtedly provide fans with a substantial 20-25 hour main storyline, along with over 20 additional hours of side content to explore. This extensive content merits its own moment in the limelight, which could be provided by the game’s recent delay.

Postponing the release of Avowed, could potentially be advantageous for other games, as they wouldn’t have to compete with it initially. Xbox Game Pass has consistently been a favorable platform for independent (Indie) games, allowing curious players to try out a game without spending extra money upfront. This delay in the release of Avowed provides more visibility for these smaller Indie games on Xbox Game Pass during the Fall season.
