Xbox Game Pass Is Embracing Two Genres for September 2024

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for strategy games and simulators, I must say that Xbox Game Pass’ September 2024 line-up has my attention piqued! With three day-one strategy titles, including Age of Mythology: Retold, Frostpunk 2, and Ara: History Untold, it feels like a strategy enthusiast’s dream come true.

Following several months of more relaxed releases, it appears that Xbox Game Pass is gearing up to take things to the next level with its September 2024 lineup. As we stand now, there are already seven games slated for Xbox Game Pass’ September 2024 roster, with five of them being day-one debuts. This marks a substantial increase compared to Game Pass’ August offerings, where only two out of the seven new additions were day-one premieres.

To put it simply, the games coming to Xbox Game Pass in September 2024 might spark some debate. Typically, Game Pass offers a mix of diverse game types every month. However, this time around, the focus is on strategy and simulation games, which are quite particular genres.

Xbox Game Pass Is Catering to Strategy and Simulator Fans This September

Xbox Game Pass Has Three Day-One Strategy Games This September

  • Age of Mythology: Retold – September 4 (Console, PC)
  • Frostpunk 2 – September 20 (PC)
  • Ara: History Untold – September 24 (PC)

On its debut day, Xbox Game Pass is expected to roll out some highly anticipated titles: “Age of Mythology: Retold“, “Frostpunk 2“, and “Ara: History Untold“. Each one will be available on their specific release dates. These three strategy games, all launching on day one, offer unique approaches to gameplay within the genre.

Age of Mythology: Reborn is a reimagined version of the 2002 real-time strategy game from Ensemble Studios, which is part of the Age of Empires series. Unlike its historical counterpart, Age of Mythology delves into the realm of myth and fantasy, inviting players to build their own town, manage resources effectively, and wage war against neighboring villages using an assortment of ancient and fanciful warriors from mythological lore.

History Untold” is a strategy game in the vein of “Civilization”, falling under the 4X category.

Xbox Game Pass Is Adding Three Simulator Games This September

  • Star Trucker – September 3 (Console, PC)
  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game – September 5 (Console, PC)
  • Train Sim World 5 – September 17 (Console, PC)

This month, Xbox Game Pass is adding more titles to its collection, focusing particularly on games from the simulation genre, specifically vehicle simulations. One of the new additions is “Star Trucker,” a game developed by just two people and available for Xbox Game Pass on day one this month. “Star Trucker” takes the truck sim formula that has gained cult status in recent years and gives it a Sci-Fi twist. Players are tasked with transporting cargo across the galaxy, maintaining their space rig, and mapping out their route through the stars manually.

The game titled “Expeditions: MudRunner” initially came out in March of this year, and it earned positive feedback for its leisurely-paced, fulfilling simulation exploration gameplay. On the other hand, “Train Sim World 5” represents the latest addition to Dovetail Games’ unexpectedly broad collection of simulation games centered around transportation. The first version of “Train Sim World” was launched in 2017, and since then, it has been a continuous stream of releases with major versions appearing almost every year, and expansion packs being released even more frequently.
