Xbox Game Pass members get a selection of new games each month, and December is no exception. This month’s additions include titles like Death Howl, Mortal Kombat 1, Routine, Monster Train 2, and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. However, some games also leave the service regularly, and two will be removed on December 31st.
Xbox Game Pass games are usually removed in two batches each month – one around the middle and another at the end. Recently, Mortal Kombat 11, Still Wakes the Deep, and Wildfrost were taken off the service for Cloud, Console, and PC on December 15th. Coming up on December 31st, the popular horror game Carrion and the intense first-person shooter Hell Let Loose will also be leaving.
Most horror games put you in the role of the survivor, fighting off enemies like zombies or a powerful monster. But in Carrion, you are the monster – a shapeless creature with tentacles – and you’re hunting the scientists and soldiers inside a research facility. You’ll move through vents, gain upgrades, and try to escape with sinister goals. Meanwhile, Hell Let Loose is a multiplayer game that recreates famous World War II battles. It focuses on small teams working together, and clear communication is key to winning.
A sequel to the popular game Hell Let Loose is planned for release in 2026. Called Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, it will be set during the Vietnam War, specifically focusing on the conflict between North Vietnam and the United States from 1965 to 1973.
Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving on December 31
- Carrion (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Hell Let Loose (Cloud, Console, and PC)
You still have time to play both games before they’re removed from Xbox Game Pass. Carrion can be finished in about 4.5 hours, and Hell Let Loose matches typically last between 30 minutes and an hour due to the game’s realistic style, giving you a good chance to try it out. Plus, Xbox Game Pass members get a discount if they want to buy either game and keep it after it leaves the service.
Looking ahead to January 2026, a fresh lineup of games is on the horizon. Currently, Mio: Memories in Orbit and Nova Roma are the only titles confirmed for Xbox Game Pass that month, but the first announcements of more games are expected soon. Mio: Memories in Orbit is an action-adventure game where you explore a futuristic spaceship overrun with dangerous robots, and Nova Roma lets you create and manage your own Roman city while dealing with the whims of mythical gods. Both games offer appealing experiences within popular, though specialized, genres – a great taste of what’s to come!
Xbox Game Pass Games Coming in January
- Mio: Memories in Orbit
- Nova Roma
As a big Xbox fan, I’m really curious to see what Xbox Game Pass looks like in the new year, but there’s even more to be excited about! They’ve already announced an Xbox Developer Direct for January 2026, and it’s going to be packed with news about games coming from Xbox Game Studios in 2026. Matt Booty, head of Microsoft Studios, even said they have so much to share they couldn’t fit it all into one show! We don’t know exactly what games they’ll be showing yet, but Playground Games – the team behind Forza and Fable – will definitely be there. I’m really hoping we finally get a good look at the new Fable game, even though there’s been talk about it potentially being pushed back to 2027. Fingers crossed January 2026 starts things off strong for Xbox!
