As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for horror games and a wallet that’s always eager to avoid full prices, I must say, the Xbox Game Pass subscription has been a godsend. However, it seems we’re about to bid farewell to some titles in August, including the chilling asymmetrical multiplayer horror gem, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”
Starting from August 15, some games available through Xbox Game Pass subscription will no longer be accessible. This number could increase as we move further into August. It’s important to note that while fresh titles are added to Xbox Game Pass each month, existing ones are also periodically removed.
Xbox Game Pass titles get taken down twice a month: on the 15th and last day. There are occasionally exceptions to this schedule. Microsoft simultaneously unveils the departing games alongside the new additions, allowing players some time to enjoy them before they disappear. As of now, Microsoft hasn’t disclosed the Xbox Game Pass titles for August 2024 that will be added (Wave 1), so the exact list of games leaving is yet to be announced. However, we do know that at least four games are set to depart based on the “Leaving Soon” section of the service.
On August 15th, my favorite Xbox Game Pass games – “Aerial Kingdom”, “Offworld Trading Company”, “Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition”, and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” – will no longer be available for play within the subscription service. However, there’s a silver lining! These games are currently discounted by 20% as they prepare to leave. So, if I want to keep them in my gaming library after they’re removed, I can purchase them at a lower price before August 15th.

Although Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement yet, historical patterns suggest that we might see titles such as “Creatures of Ava” on the 7th and “Core Keeper” on the 27th. Moreover, a reliable source hints that there could be early access to “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” on the 8th. So, keep an eye out for these potential additions!
