Xbox Game Pass Is Losing at Least 6 Games on January 15

Summary

  • Xbox Game Pass will lose at least six titles on January 15, 2024.
  • The first wave of 2025 removals from the service includes Figment: Journey Into the Mind, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and Exoprimal.
  • Apart from Insurgency: Sandstorm, each of the soon-to-be-departing titles can be comfortably beaten in a few days’ time.

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tad nostalgic as I see the lineup of games leaving Xbox Game Pass on January 15, 2025. The service has been a lifesaver for me in terms of discovering new titles and revisiting old favorites, so seeing some of these games go is always bittersweet.

The list includes gems like Common’hood, Escape Academy, Exoprimal, Figment: Journey Into the Mind, and Those Who Remain. Each one offers a unique gaming experience that I’ve enjoyed immensely, and it’s sad to see them go. The only exception is Insurgency: Sandstorm, which I haven’t touched because multiplayer games are for people with more friends than I have.

I’m hoping the upcoming announcements will bring some new gems to the service to help fill the void left by these departing titles. After all, the show must go on, and as a subscriber, I’ll keep on gaming.

On a lighter note, it feels like the Xbox Game Pass is playing a game of musical chairs with my gaming hours – one minute I have too many games to play, and the next, they’re gone faster than a potato chip at a party!

On January 15, it’s sad to say that Xbox Game Pass will be parting ways with at least six games, including Figment: Journey Into the Mind. However, as of now, there are fewer confirmed new additions to Xbox Game Pass for January 2025.

The XGP content library usually undergoes a reduction every fortnight, specifically around the middle and end of each month. The latest decrease took place on December 31, with Xbox Game Pass parting ways with six games, such as LEGO 2K Drive and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

15th January is when we can expect around a dozen more games to leave Xbox Game Pass. As per the latest update on the “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox app, these include titles like “Common’hood”, “Escape Academy”, “Exoprimal”, “Figment: Journey Into the Mind”, “Insurgency: Sandstorm”, and “Those Who Remain”. Among this group, “Escape Academy”, an escape-the-room game, has been on the service the longest, having been added back in July 2022.

Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving January 15, 2025

Game Platform(s) Added How Long To Beat
Common’hood Cloud, Console, PC Jul 2023 23–36 hours
Escape Academy Jul 2022 5–6 hours
Exoprimal Jul 2023 28–39 hours
Figment: Journey Into the Mind Jan 2024 5–6.5 hours
Insurgency: Sandstorm Nov 2022 80–118 hours
Those Who Remain Jan 2024 6–8 hours

Game enthusiasts who are committed to maximizing their Xbox Game Pass membership will be pleased to discover that most of the games about to leave the platform can typically be completed within just a few days apiece, with the exception of Insurgency: Sandstorm. Due to its multiplayer nature, this game requires a more substantial time commitment.

The “Departures” part of the Xbox app has often not provided a comprehensive overview of games leaving Xbox Game Pass. This means that additional titles could still depart on January 15. The full list of games to be removed will likely be revealed together with the initial releases for January 2025, an announcement expected in the near future, possibly as early as January 7. This announcement coincides with the release date of Road 96, the last game from Microsoft’s recently unveiled XGP lineup.

For the month of January 2025, Xbox Game Pass has only confirmed five games so far. Although more titles may be added during the month, some games will also be removed on January 31st, marking the longest streak of monthly net losses for the service since July 2024. In terms of upcoming additions, “Road 96” is set to be followed by three day-one releases: “Eternal Strands”, “Sniper Elite: Resistance”, and “Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector”. These new games are all scheduled to arrive between January 28th and January 31st.
