Xbox Game Pass is removing the game *Core Keeper* and two others today, October 15th. However, looking ahead to October 2025, the service is expected to gain significantly more games than it loses – with around 18 games being added for every one removed in the first half of the month.
Typically, Microsoft adds more games to its subscription service each month than it removes. However, October 2025 was exceptional: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gained a surprising 48 games all at once. This large addition, mostly older titles from the Ubisoft+ Classics collection, was the biggest expansion in the service’s eight years. It happened at the same time Microsoft raised the price by $10, using Ubisoft’s extensive game library to soften the impact of the 50% price increase.
Xbox Game Pass Losing Core Keeper Later Today
Ugh, bummer! Xbox Game Pass is losing a few games today, October 15th – looks like Core Keeper, Cocoon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed are heading out, probably around midnight tonight. Honestly, I’m a little sad to see Core Keeper go – it’s been on Game Pass since late August and it’s super popular! I checked Steam and it has almost 21,000 really positive reviews and has sold over 3 million copies, so a lot of people are into it.
All Titles Leaving Xbox Game Pass Games on October 15
Game | Added | OpenCritic Avg. Score | How Long To Beat |
---|---|---|---|
Cocoon | Sep 2023 | 87 | 5–6 hours |
Core Keeper | Aug 2024 | 87 | 34–133 hours |
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed | May 2025 | 62 | 11–17 hours |
Geometric Interactive’s puzzle game, *Cocoon*, is the quickest of three departing Xbox Game Pass titles to finish, averaging around 5.5 hours per playthrough, according to player data. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can currently purchase *Cocoon*, *TMNT: Mutants Unleashed*, and *Core Keeper* with discounts of up to 20%. This discount for subscribers will last as long as these games are available on Xbox Game Pass.

Okay, so usually Microsoft lets us know which games are leaving Xbox Game Pass around October 31st. They typically announce those departures along with a new batch of games coming to the service, usually around the third Tuesday of the month. But things feel a little off this time. The first wave of October games they announced went *way* further out than normal – all the way to *The Outer Worlds 2*, which isn’t even out until October 29th! That’s stuff we’d normally see in the *second* wave announcement, so I’m not sure what to expect with the departure list this time around.
