The popular game Return to Monkey Island will be removed from Xbox Game Pass on October 31st. Two other games are also leaving on that same date. Xbox is expected to share a complete list of games leaving the service the week of October 20th.
Xbox Game Pass games are usually removed in batches a couple of times each month, alongside new game additions. Sometimes, Microsoft lets players know in advance by listing departing titles in the “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox app. This happened on October 18th, when the app updated to show three games that will be removed at the end of the month.
Return to Monkey Island Departing from Xbox Game Pass Soon
Starting October 31st, three games will be leaving the service: *Return to Monkey Island*, *Jusant*, and *Metal Slug Tactics*. Of these, *Return to Monkey Island* is the most critically acclaimed. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a 97% recommendation rate and an average score of 87 on OpenCritic (based on over 100 reviews). This places it among the top 2% of all games on the platform and makes it one of the highest-rated titles currently available through Xbox Game Pass.

While *Jusant* didn’t sell as well as Don’t Nod hoped, critics generally liked it, giving it an average score of 84 and a 91% recommendation rate on OpenCritic – putting it in the top 9% of all games on the site. You can comfortably finish both *Jusant* and *Return to Monkey Island* before they leave Xbox Game Pass in late October 2025. *Metal Slug Tactics*, however, will take considerably longer, with players reporting a complete playthrough taking over 40 hours.
Metal Slug Tactics launched on Xbox Game Pass in November 2024 and later became available in the Premium tier (formerly Standard) in May 2025. In the past, the ‘Leaving Soon’ section of the Xbox app hasn’t always been reliable, as Microsoft sometimes added or removed games from it unexpectedly. We expect the official list of games leaving in the second wave this month to be announced around October 21st – the same day Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get access to Ninja Gaiden 4 and Evil West.
