Later today, five games will be removed from Xbox Game Pass, including both Octopath Traveler games. It’s especially unfortunate timing for fans, as these popular JRPGs from Square Enix are leaving just when many might have wanted to play them.
After keeping monthly game removals to less than ten titles since June 2025, Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass is now seeing a larger wave of departures. Five games were removed on November 15th, and another five are scheduled to leave the service later today.
Octopath Traveler, SteamWorld Build, and More Titles Leaving Xbox Game Pass Today
Hey everyone, just a heads-up that a few games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on November 30th. We’re saying goodbye to Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler II, Barbie Project Friendship, Lords of the Fallen, and SteamWorld Build. Luckily, we’ve got until midnight on December 1st to play them. If you’re an achievement hunter like me, you might want to focus on Barbie Project Friendship and SteamWorld Build – those are the only ones where I think we can actually make some good progress before they’re gone.
All Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving November 30

| Game | Added | How Long To Beat | OpenCritic Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barbie Project Friendship | Jun 2025 | 5–8 hours | N/A |
| Lords of the Fallen | May 2024 | 28–95 hours | 69 |
| Octopath Traveler | Jun 2024 | 60–103 hours | 84 |
| Octopath Traveler II | Jun 2024 | 60–95 hours | 85 |
| SteamWorld Build | Dec 2023 | 9–31 hours | 77 |
Of the games leaving Xbox Game Pass, Barbie Project Friendship is the newest addition, having been added on June 11th along with the PC version of Kingdom Two Crowns. SteamWorld Build is leaving just before its two-year anniversary on the service, and Lords of the Fallen and both Octopath Traveler games have each been available for around 18 months.
Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass at a Really Inconvenient Time
The Octopath Traveler games are leaving Xbox Game Pass as excitement builds for the upcoming Octopath Traveler 0. Announced last July, the new game is set to release on PC and consoles on December 4th. Though it won’t be available on Game Pass at launch, the announcement likely led many JRPG fans to revisit or start the first two Octopath Traveler games. Because these games are quite long, some players may not have had a chance to finish them before they’re removed, which is unfortunate. Regardless, losing these games is a significant loss for the JRPG selection on Xbox Game Pass.
November 2025 Has Been a Big Net Positive for Xbox Game Pass Library
Okay, so November 2025 is the first time in a while – since June, actually – that Xbox Game Pass is losing a good chunk of games in one month. But honestly, it’s still a win for the service! We actually gained 20 games over the last month, which means we added twice as many games as we lost, even with the ones leaving today. So, overall, the library is still growing, and that’s awesome!
As a huge Xbox Game Pass fan, I’m already getting excited about what’s coming! We know of five games hitting the service in December 2025 so far. Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is one of them, and we’re getting four games on day one: Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Routine, A Game About Digging A Hole, and Dome Keeper. Now, Dome Keeper and A Game About Digging A Hole are already out on other systems, but since they’re brand new to Xbox consoles, they’re counting as day-one releases, which is awesome!
