Starting late February 2025, two Yakuza games and six additional titles will no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass. As a result, members will miss out on playing the initial Yakuza series installments consecutively according to their narrative timeline.
Microsoft’s subscription service frequently removes games from its library approximately every fortnight. The most recent removal of games took place on January 31st, with Xbox Game Pass parting ways with six titles. It has been announced that an additional seven games will be departing later today, February 15th.
Approaching mid-February 2025, Microsoft made changes to the “Leaving Soon” section in its Xbox Cloud Gaming app, announcing eight more games that will be removed from the Xbox Game Pass catalog. These games include GRIS, Maneater, and PAW Patrol World, as well as Space Engineers, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The remasters of Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 are also scheduled to leave the service on February 28.

Approximately half of the recently disclosed removals have been part of Microsoft’s subscription service for just a year, having joined Xbox Game Pass between February and March 2024. In contrast, Sega’s games that are set to leave soon have been available since the beginning of 2021. Meanwhile, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and GRIS were added to the Xbox Game Pass library in March and September 2023 respectively.
6 Yakuza Games Will Remain on Xbox Game Pass in March 2025
By March 2025, only six Yakuza games will remain on Xbox Game Pass, namely Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuzi Kiwami 2, Yakuza 5 Remastered, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon (also known as Yakuza 7). Due to the service’s upcoming removal of two games from the series, players will no longer be able to play through the mainline games in chronological order without purchasing any missing installments from the first 15 years.
The games from the Yakuza series, which are soon to be removed from service, were initially included in Xbox Game Pass along with Yakuza 5 Remastered. However, it’s uncertain why Y5R isn’t also set to depart at the end of February. Microsoft is expected to reveal the next group of games leaving Xbox Game Pass as part of its February 2025 Wave 2 lineup announcement on February 18, which happens to be the same day Avowed arrives. Given Microsoft’s history, there’s a chance that the “Leaving Soon” section of the Xbox Cloud Gaming app may not be fully updated, and more titles might exit the Xbox Game Pass library at the end of the month.
