Summary
- Kingdom Two Crowns joined Xbox Game Pass on February 13.
- The side-scrolling strategy game is the third title to reach Microsoft’s subscription service this month.
- The next wave of Xbox Game Pass releases is likely to be announced on February 18, the same day Avowed lands on the service.
In February 2025, Kingdom Two Crowns has been incorporated into the collection of games available on Xbox Game Pass. This marks the third new game added to Microsoft’s subscription service during this month, and it is also the sixteenth release for Xbox Game Pass since the beginning of the year.
Originating from the minds of Thomas van den Berg and Coatsink, the game titled Kingdom Two Crowns represents the third chapter in the celebrated collection of side-scrolling strategy games known as the Kingdom series. First introduced on PC and gaming consoles in December 2018, it eventually found its home on Android and iOS devices in April 2020.
Starting today, February 13th, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now begin playing the 2018 strategy game “Kingdom Two Crowns” as part of their membership. Unlike some games that are only available on day-one releases, “Kingdom Two Crowns” can be found across all tiers of the service, except for the relatively seldom updated Xbox Game Pass Core. This is the first time the game has been added to Microsoft’s content library, but it was previously offered for a limited time through Xbox Games with Gold from November to December 2021. However, Microsoft discontinued its freebie program, Xbox Games with Gold, in September 2023, replacing it with Xbox Game Pass Core.
Kingdom Two Crowns Boasts Favorable Reviews From Critics and Fans Alike
As a dedicated fan, I can confidently say that Kingdom Two Crowns was met with widespread acclaim upon release, earning a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, which is based on an average score of 79 and a recommendation rate of 79%. Fast forward to February 2025, the game continues to garner positive feedback from players on Steam, boasting a “Very Positive” user review status, backed by over 24,000 player evaluations. Moreover, its ratings on the Xbox and PlayStation Stores currently stand at 3.8 and 4.6 stars respectively.

Over time, several expansion packs for the game “Kingdom Two Crowns,” featuring fresh islands and additional content, have been rolled out. The latest among these is “Call of Olympus,” which debuted in October 2024. In line with tradition, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play the main game as part of their subscription. Extra DLC content can be bought separately if desired. It’s expected that “Kingdom Two Crowns” will remain available on Xbox Game Pass for a minimum of one year.
As an excited fan, I’m thrilled to share that Microsoft’s subscription service has one more confirmed title for this month, and it’s a big one! The highly-anticipated RPG, “Avowed,” is set to join Xbox Game Pass on February 18, marking a significant release in the service this month. This title is particularly exciting because it’s Obsidian Entertainment’s first RPG since their 2019 masterpiece, “The Outer Worlds.”
And here’s an interesting tidbit: The second wave of February 2025 Xbox Game Pass releases is expected to be announced on the very same day, just a few hours before “Avowed” graces our screens! So, get ready for more gaming goodness after you dive into this epic RPG!
