Summary

  • Xbox joins Gamescom LATAM, extending the reach of the popular gaming event series.
  • Xbox booth at Gamescom LATAM to showcase 13 diverse indie games, including unique RPGs and shooters.
  • Xbox Discovery Day offers developer sessions on publishing, marketing, and tips for success on Xbox platforms.

Xbox has officially announced its plan to join the upcoming Gamescom Latin America (Gamescom LATAM), a spin-off of the European games industry expo. The event will happen from April 30 to May 4, 2025, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Prior to E3’s demise in 2023, Gamescom was renowned as the largest gaming event globally. The primary Gamescom gathering in Cologne, Germany accommodated over 1,400 exhibitors and attracted more than 335,000 visitors. This growth can be attributed to its public accessibility, surpassing other events such as the Tokyo Game Show and even E3 at its zenith.

Koelnmesse, the organizer of Gamescom, is keeping its word by growing the event even more with new additions like Gamescom LATAM. Joining other significant gaming companies, Xbox has confirmed its participation in this year’s Gamescom LATAM. They will have a booth showcasing playable games from their ID@Xbox Program, which focuses on independent developers publishing their games on Xbox. The Xbox Gamescom LATAM booth will highlight 13 indie games, as well as an event called “Discovery Day” specifically for game creators to investigate development possibilities on Xbox and PC platforms.

13 Indie Games Confirmed to Show at Xbox Gamescom LATAM Booth

  • Mullet Madjack (Epopeia)
  • Mark of the Deep (Mad Mimic)

At Gamescom LATAM, 13 indie games will be showcased through the Xbox booth, covering a wide variety of engaging and diverse genres. Notably, “Mullet Madjack” offers a distinctive shooter experience with an anime-styled visual aesthetic and is now accessible via Xbox Game Pass. On the other hand, “Keylocker” is a turn-based RPG set in a cyberpunk universe, borrowing combat mechanics from games like “Super Mario RPG”.

“Take Us North” is a narrative-driven adventure that sheds light on real-world challenges faced by migrants trying to traverse the US-Mexico border. The art style of “Mark of the Deep” shares resemblances with the popular action roguelike “Hades”, yet distinguishes itself through a fusion of Souls-like and Metroidvania gameplay concepts.

At Xbox’s Gamescom LATAM booth, you’ll find not only playable games but also educational events. Xbox Discovery Day is one such event, designed as a learning opportunity for creators. Xbox describes it as an educational day for developers to enhance their skills and knowledge about succeeding on Xbox platforms. This includes insights into publishing and marketing strategies. The sessions during Xbox Day of Discovery are open to all Gamescom LATAM attendees. Additionally, ID@Xbox has planned two keynote talks specifically for independent developers. The first will be led by Chris Charla, General Manager of Content and Dev Readiness at Microsoft, while the second will feature Guillaume Provost, CEO of Compulsion Games, creators of the eagerly awaited action game “South of Midnight”.

Xbox aims to establish a significant impact at this year’s Gamescom LATAM, emphasizing the critical role of the Latin American gaming community within the broader industry. On the other hand, the thriving success of both Gamescom LATAM and Gamescom Asia indicates that the Gamescom brand is becoming increasingly influential in shaping discussions around game industry events.
