It appears that the newest Xbox update for Xbox Insider members is causing the consoles to revert back to their original settings, as reported by many users who’ve undergone the update process.
As an enthusiast, I’ve encountered a situation that might concern fellow Xbox insiders like myself. If you’ve recently installed the Alpha or Alpha Skip-Ahead updates, be prepared to lose your Xbox profiles, Quick Resume data, and console settings. To add to the frustration, this update is compulsory for us insiders.
Glancing through the Xbox Insider subreddit reveals numerous posts voicing concerns about an ongoing problem. Some users have suggested halting the update’s distribution, yet there seems to be no response from the company at this time.
As a concerned user, I completely grasp the purpose of such tools in identifying issues like the one we recently encountered. However, what baffles me is the inaction from the development team when a faulty update was deployed on the testing branch and remained live for 18+ hours without resolution.
It seems that the recent update does not seem to erase any locally stored game save data on Xbox consoles, at least based on current observations. So far, Microsoft has remained silent about these concerns. We have contacted them for a formal explanation.
