As an avid gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that Microsoft’s decision to consolidate their Xbox offerings into one app doesn’t exactly set my heart racing. However, after taking a step back and considering the long-term benefits, I find myself warming up to this change.
As a gamer, I’ve just learned some exciting news: Microsoft plans to consolidate their services by phasing out the Xbox Game Pass mobile app starting in November. Instead, they’ll be merging all the goodies into one tidy package – the Xbox app. So, if you’re like me and have both apps on your mobile device right now, get ready for a change! In a few weeks, the Xbox Game Pass app will bid adieu to make way for this unified experience under one roof.
All In One
Starting in November, there will only be a single Xbox application available on mobile devices. Microsoft has decided to discontinue the Game Pass app. This means that activities such as communicating with friends, downloading screenshots, and remotely installing content onto an Xbox console will all be managed through this new app. Essentially, it will serve as a comprehensive platform for all Xbox-related functions, including accessing perks and rewards.
In a blog post penned by Microsoft, it was confirmed:
Here’s a possible way of rephrasing the given text while maintaining its original meaning:
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to stream games via the application on your mobile device through the cloud just yet. However, a temporary solution is available: you can use your mobile web browser to stream games instead. It’s not ideal, but it’s the best alternative until the confusion around cloud streaming subsides.
This modification may not have a significant impact like shifting mountains, but it certainly enhances the overall comfort, which is quite acceptable for me.
