XDefiant’s Esports Scene Could Be Coming One Step Closer

As a long-time fan of competitive first-person shooters, I’m thrilled to see XDefiant making strides towards establishing a thriving esports scene. Having played and followed various titles throughout the years, I can attest to the excitement and community that comes with watching and participating in high-level competitive play.

XDefiant was designed from the start as a competitive first-person shooter game with the goal of fostering a thriving esports community in the future. Featuring a diverse cast of characters and roles, as well as mission-driven game modes, it possesses all the key components of a competitive gaming environment. Nevertheless, the foundation for a competitive scene has yet to be established.

As a long-time gamer with a deep appreciation for both competitive gameplay and unique cosmetics, I can’t help but get excited about the latest discovery in XDefiant’s files. Based on my past experiences with similar games, I believe that the revelation of an array of information, such as a Free-For-All mode and anime-themed weapon skins, could be a sign that XDefiant is gearing up to introduce an esports scene.

Laying the Foundation

I had a conversation with Neale Maker from Ubisoft during the BLAST R6 Manchester Major in May. He shared that XDefiant’s esports community may begin to emerge around “Year Two” of the game’s release. While he assured me that plans are underway, additional features need to be integrated into the game to support this scene.

According to dataminers, one of those core elements is on the way.

As a long-time fan of XDefiant, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news that has recently come to my attention. Based on the information circulated by TxLim_ on Twitter, it seems that custom games and spectator modes are currently being developed for our beloved game.

  • Countdowns
  • Kicking/moving players
  • Custom competitive rulesets
  • Game mode modifiers

Introducing custom games and a spectator system brings XDefiant significantly nearer to becoming one of the top contenders in esports. The only missing piece is the addition of a one-life game mode such as Search and Destroy, and it will be ready for competition.
