Xenoblade Chronicles X is set on the planet Mira, where players join a team to explore its secrets and face numerous challenges. This new Switch 2 version, called Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, supports resolutions up to 4K when connected to a TV and runs at a smooth 60 frames per second.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Players Are Getting Refunds for Switch 2 Upgrade Pack

Despite being considered one of the best games on the Wii U, the new Switch 2 version of Xenoblade Chronicles X is facing criticism for its graphics and how well it runs in handheld mode. Players on the Xenoblade Chronicles subreddit, including a user named Tamodolo, are asking for refunds for the $5 upgrade pack. While Nintendo typically doesn’t offer refunds for digital purchases, Tamodolo reported successfully getting their money back after detailing the game’s technical problems.

Tamodolo explained that the game’s images have been filtered after being upscaled to 1080p, meaning they aren’t displayed in native 4K. He also mentioned players can request a refund through the Nintendo eShop by contacting customer service. Refunds, if approved, can sometimes be processed within 5 to 10 minutes, but aren’t always guaranteed. Some players have reported successfully receiving refunds, while others have debated whether the textures in Xenoblade Chronicles X look better on the new Switch compared to the original.

A recent Reddit discussion, started by YonkRaccoon, highlighted that textures in handheld mode for Xenoblade Chronicles X appear blurry. With complaints about the Switch 2 version of Xenoblade Chronicles X surfacing since its release on February 19th, players are asking Nintendo to release another update to fix these issues. Not All Switch 2 Upgrades Are Created Equal

Unlike other Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which received free updates via download to improve performance, Xenoblade Chronicles X will have a physical release on the Switch 2 in April. This led some players to hope Nintendo would fix any issues with the game before its release. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s updates, for example, fixed many performance problems and boosted the frame rate to 60 FPS.
