Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Has Bad News for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Players

Players excited for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC release of *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* should know that the game won’t include its multiplayer features when it launches on those platforms. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced that after being available only on Nintendo Switch, *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* will come to current-gen PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on December 8, but it seems there’s a trade-off.

Fans were thrilled to hear that *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, especially with promises of extra content like new cutscenes and game modes. However, recent listings on the PlayStation and Microsoft stores revealed that one of the game’s advertised new features won’t be available when it first launches.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Will Launch Without Multiplayer Mode on PS5, Xbox Series

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* will receive the Red Light Raid online multiplayer mode in an update after the game is released. This co-op mode, where up to four players fight waves of increasingly difficult enemies, is a popular feature that adds a lot of replay value to the game. Unfortunately, players on the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles won’t be able to play it right away; it will be added in a future update.

Currently, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio haven’t announced when the Red Light Raid mode will be available in the game. They also haven’t said anything official about crossplay, so players aren’t sure if they’ll be able to play with friends on different consoles. Since this mode is already included in the Nintendo Switch version of *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut*, it probably won’t be long before it’s added. Fans are hoping the developers will release it soon after the December 8th launch and that it will work across all platforms.

If you’re a fan of the *Yakuza* series and planning to buy the enhanced version of *Yakuza 0*, be aware that you can’t transfer save files from older PlayStation and Xbox consoles to the *Director’s Cut* on newer systems. Also, if you already own *Yakuza 0* on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you’ll need to purchase the *Director’s Cut* separately – there’s no upgrade path. You can find more information about the re-release on SEGA’s official *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* webpage.
