These can be some of the most fun and goofy parts of the game. You’ll have to find these substories all by yourself unless you get the Trouble Finder. The Trouble Finder is a very useful item that will reveal all the substories on the map. This way, you can do all these zany side missions for experience and other rewards. Follow this guide to learn where to get the Trouble Finder and how to use it in Yakuza Kiwami.
Trouble Finder Location
To obtain the Trouble Finder, you must buy it directly from Bob Utsunomiya, who portrays a shop owner in the Yakuza series and is a clown character. You can locate him at the entrance of Tenkaichi Street, which lies at the southwestern-most part of the map. He’s easily noticeable to the south of New Serena bar, near the usable taxi.
The Trouble Finder costs four CP (Completion Points.) You can earn these points by finishing certain challenges. Check the Completion Points checklist in the pause menu to learn what you need to do. These challenges can be exploration-based, like eating the entire menu from different restaurants. There are also challenges tied to combat and defeating certain amounts of enemies. You will need to buy the first three upgrades before the Trouble Finder as they unlock one by one.
How to Use the Trouble Finder
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share a tip about using the Trouble Finder in the game. To activate this tool, you’ll first need to equip it from Kiryu’s inventory. Navigate to the weapon and accessories section within the pause menu. Once there, simply click on the Trouble Finder to equip it as an accessory, but be aware that it requires one accessory slot. If you’re not currently exploring or fighting challenging bosses, consider swapping it out for more powerful accessories instead.
Once you’ve attached the Trouble Finder, any accessible side quests will show up as grey square boxes with exclamation marks on your map/mini-map. Remember that some quests are connected to specific chapters. Make sure to mount the Trouble Finder at the start of new chapters to identify potential allies.
