‘You Absolutely Nailed the Vibe I was Going For’: Abiotic Factor Dev Praises Fanmade Animations

A supporter of the game “Abiotic Factor” has received acclaim from a developer for designing unique animations for the game’s firearms. However, since the majority of scientists in this game might not be accustomed to handling guns, they’ll need to pick up these skills rapidly if they hope to withstand the barrage of unusual entities that are threatening their work environment.

In a nutshell, “Abiotic Factor” is an open-world survival and crafting game that unfolds within a top-secret research complex hidden beneath the earth. Drawing inspiration from Valve’s famous game, “Half-Life,” it allows up to six players to assume roles as scientists who find themselves trapped in this lab when otherworldly creatures and artifacts burst through portals connecting the facility to different dimensions. These scientists must then create weapons and traps to defend against these monstrous invaders while constructing bases, gathering resources, and delving deeper into the labyrinthine underground research facilities.

On July 21st, a user named hoider posted a video on YouTube demonstrating their unique perspective on the reloading animations for every weapon in the game “Abiotic Factor“. Hoider, who has been posting custom weapon animation videos on YouTube for more than four years, mentioned in the video description that this project had required them six months to complete. On the very same day, Deep Field Games’ Art Director Connor Moran, known as MadDok on YouTube, left a comment praising hoider’s animations. “These are amazing! You perfectly captured the feeling I intended for each reload and even surpassed it,” wrote Connor. “Thank you for sharing!

Abiotic Factor Fan Animation Draws Praise From The Game’s Art Director

In the video description, hoider shared their intention of revamping the guns found within the game “Abiotic Factor“, preserving the skill-based animations that depict the player character’s reloading ability by altering them as the character’s skills progress. Players who focus on enhancing the reloading skill will witness changes in their reload animations at levels 15 and 20, providing an extra layer of excitement to gameplay. To follow this idea, hoider has designed three distinct reload animations for each weapon, showing the player’s scientist evolving from awkwardly fumbling with the magazine against the mag well for several seconds to swiftly loading their weapon and clearing the chamber in half the time.

Initially introduced as an Early Access game on Steam in May 2024, the game known as “Abiotic Factor” was finally made available for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass users starting July 22. With crossplay compatibility across all platforms, now’s your chance to delve into the enigmatic underground facility of “Abiotic Factor” alongside a team of fellow scientists who share your curiosity.
