Sony has revealed the lineup for free PlayStation Plus games in August 2025, and one of the three options is a highly-acclaimed game with a resemblance to Pinocchio: Lies of P. Featuring a Belle Époque aesthetic, much like this year’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Lies of P is inspired by Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio. Players take on the role of Pinocchio and face harrowing battles against monstrous creatures, after the city of Krat has been afflicted by a petrification outbreak and a rebellion among puppets.
Subscribing to PlayStation Plus makes it simple for gamers to access Sony’s monthly free games. The service offers Premium, Extra, and Essential plans, but the free monthly games can be downloaded with any subscription as long as you have an active membership. Recently, PS Plus has been offering day-one releases for three months straight, such as Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 1 and Tape 2, Blue Prince, and FBC: Firebreak, all of which were available to download this year.
In their latest blog post, Sony officially revealed the free PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for August 2025. The lineup includes “Lies of P”, “DayZ”, and “My Hero One’s Justice 2”. “DayZ” is a survival game where up to 60 players battle against infected in a post-apocalyptic world, while “My Hero One’s Justice 2” is a 3D arena fighter inspired by the “My Hero Academia” anime. Last month, subscribers received “Diablo 4”, “The King of Fighters 15”, and “Jusant”. These games were playable on both PS4 and PS5. The variety in the subscription offerings is aimed at catering to a broader range of gaming enthusiasts in August as well.
PlayStation Plus Monthly Games August 2025 Lineup Includes Lies of P
Originating from Neowiz and Round8 Studio, the game titled “Lies of P” was made available on both PC and Xbox platforms, earning acclaim for its stunning visuals, immersive sound design, soulslike attributes, and overall aesthetic. “Lies of P“, demonstrating its merit, serves as a commendable representation of the soulslike genre, striking a harmonious balance between challenge and reward. Some games within this category can lose their appeal if the gameplay becomes excessively challenging.
Two years following its debut, I’ve found myself astonished by the success of “Lies of P” as it surpassed a significant sales milestone on both PC and consoles in June, moving millions of copies. Yet, Pinocchio’s tale didn’t cease with that, as enthusiasts were given an additional treat – the game’s “Overture” expansion, which served as a prequel. This DLC invites players back to Krat, allowing us to explore the city prior to the main game’s events, under the enigmatic guidance of a Stalker. Fans can also delve into background stories, unravel chilling secrets, and engage in more challenging boss battles during the city’s fateful final days. Moreover, the soulslike community eagerly anticipates the sequel to this game that is already under development.
