Earlier today, M80 outperformed Team Liquid during the preliminary rounds of the Six Invitational 2025 competition. This substantial event offers a prize pool of $3 million and is renowned for being a significant tournament in the yearly esports calendar. Consequently, it’s not surprising that tensions can escalate.
After securing a 2-1 victory against Team Liquid, Shaun ‘Gunnar’ Pottorff of M80 couldn’t contain his excitement in private, with M80’s social media team barely capturing the aftermath’s essence on camera.
‘It Doesn’t Matter What Team I’m On’
As a gamer, I’ve had my fair share of battles with Team Liquid, and let me tell you, I’ve come out on top more times than not. After our victory against them in the group stage of this year’s Six Invitational, my comments were validated by some pretty solid stats. In fact, over the past few years, I’ve managed to defeat Team Liquid while being a part of three different rosters.
He did it with Soniqs, then against with beastcoast, and now with M80.

In 2024, Gunnar and beastcoast triumphed at the BLAST Manchester Major, marking their first major tournament victory. This triumph was significant as they knocked out Team Liquid brutally, not losing a single map in the process. They then faced off against Team BDS in the finals, ultimately winning 3-2.
Gunnar had sharp words for Team Liquid following today’s win:
You can’t beat me! You guys just can’t beat me. It doesn’t matter what team I’m on.
That’s three different teams – you can’t beat me.
Three different teams, three different rosters, same f***ing results, bro.
In the lead-up to the Six Invitational 2025, team M80 acquired the roster that was previously with beastcoast when they disbanded. So far in this tournament, M80 has been playing quite well, and at the current moment, they are placed second in their group, slightly behind G2 Esports, who is widely considered the favorite to win the event.
Over the coming weekend, the Six Invitational tournament will progress beyond the group stage and move into the playoff bracket. Teams at the bottom of each group, unfortunately, will find themselves no longer in contention for the championship.
