As a dedicated fan of the original “Dark and Darker,” I am thrilled to hear that the second beta test for its mobile version is just around the corner. Having experienced the intense and challenging dungeon crawler gameplay in its desktop release, I can only imagine how exhilarating it will be to explore the dark fantasy world on my Android or iOS device.
An announcement from publisher Krafton reveals that a second beta test for “Dark and Darker Mobile” is coming up shortly. Unlike the initial test, which was limited to Korean players, this new trial will be accessible in various regions.
Bluehole Studio’s “Dark and Darker Mobile” aims to bring the engrossing and difficult dungeon crawler experience of Ironmace’s dark fantasy RPG to Android and iOS devices. The game, which had its first beta test in April with over 50,000 participants in South Korea, is targeting a late 2024 global release. Recently, the development team announced more information about the upcoming second beta testing phase, which will be accessible in various regions.
The second beta test for “Dark and Darker: Mobile” is scheduled from August 1st to August 11th, according to Production Director Joonseok Ahn in his latest YouTube development blog update. Despite being called a global beta test, this trial will be limited to Android and iOS users in Japan, South Korea, Turkey, and the US. During this test, players can look forward to trying out the new Wizard class and village system, which includes fishing and cooking using in-game ingredients. Additionally, expect adjustments to weapons, items, and classes for a more intricate and tactical gameplay.

For Android users who meet the requirements and wish to participate in the second round of beta testing, registration is open until the end of July. On the other hand, iOS users have until July 29 to apply. The beta test participants will each receive a total of 20,000 Platinum Coins, which equate to $145 based on the game’s website. Notably, Platinum Coins function as Dark and Darker Mobile‘s superior currency, surpassing the value of the more frequently used gold. In contrast, the game incorporates Silver Coins, Gold Coins, and a premium currency called Redstone Shards.
In their recent development update, Project Manager Woojoo Seon announced that the team intends to expand the mobile version of “Dark and Darker” by incorporating additional classes from the original game, including the Bard, Warlock, and Druid. Bluehole Studio is also working on new maps specifically designed for these classes to enhance gameplay in the mobile adaptation of “Dark and Darker”.
The mobile version of Dark and Darker, unlike its desktop counterpart, includes just six classes: Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, and soon-to-be Wizard. In an earlier interview, Ironmace revealed that the initial plan for Dark and Darker was to feature 13 classes.
