Summary
- A Hogwarts Legacy player discovers a glitch allowing their character to swim through the air outside the castle, resembling a water bug.
- Fans propose imaginative explanations for the gravity-defying glitch.
- The glitch comes as Hogwarts Legacy approaches its second anniversary.
A player of Hogwarts Legacy has uncovered an unusual bug, allowing them to move through the air above the castle, not by flying but by swimming. Despite the game’s history with glitches, this one seems plausible in the magical world of Harry Potter.
The second anniversary of the role-playing game “Hogwarts Legacy” is quickly approaching on February 10, 2025. Over the past two years, it’s garnered mostly positive feedback from both fans and professional reviewers. Although its initial popularity has somewhat diminished since its release, it managed to sell a remarkable 12 million copies within just two weeks of its launch. Regardless of its success in the market, the game has encountered various issues, such as this recently discovered bug.
In a Reddit post by amarquis_1, a video showcases an apparent glitch in the gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy, where the player’s character seems to swim outside Hogwarts Castle. This strange swimming motion occurs just inches above the ground, moving slowly. Similar glitches, or characters swimming on land, have been noticed before in the game, usually happening after the player has been swimming in water. However, these bugs typically don’t lift characters high off the ground. The user who recorded this recent video didn’t specify what they were doing when the glitch occurred. Interestingly, while there is water surrounding the narrow land bridge the character is floating above, it’s significantly shallower than where the player character currently stands.
Hogwarts Legacy Player Swims Through the Air
A devotee of the game who had apparently experienced a similar glitch previously stated that it was triggered by a loading issue, and proposed that if the player exits the game’s menu and re-enters, their character would be back on solid ground instead of swimming. However, some players have creatively suggested reasons for why the character could defy gravity without a broom in the first place, such as using Hogwarts Legacy’s leviosa charm or an excess of billywig stings.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but find the sudden occurrence of this glitch quite serendipitous. Just a short while ago, it was announced that the enchanting world of Hogwarts is set to expand with a DLC and a sequel! Unfortunately, specifics about both projects remain elusive for now, but whispers suggest that we might get our hands on the DLC as early as this year’s end.
