The Isle of Joy” reintroduces one of Daredevil’s past adversaries, Bullseye (originally Ben Poindexter), who has been transferred from solitary confinement to the general prison population at the order of Mayor Fisk. While Bullseye is infamous for his criminal activities, his former role as an FBI agent adds complexity to his situation – even he recognizes the gravity of being placed among the regular inmates instead of solitary. The primary reason for this transfer seems to be that someone, presumably a Fisk (or possibly more than one), wants Bullseye dead and believes it will be simpler to accomplish this task within the prison’s general population.
Bullseye contacts Matt Murdock (also known as Daredevil) because he believes this is why he was transferred, and wants to work with him while promising that if Murdock keeps him alive, he’ll reveal the reason for killing Foggy. At this point, Matt suspects it wasn’t a random act of revenge, but someone had sent Poindexter. Although Matt thinks Wilson Fisk is the culprit, he doesn’t get the confirmation he needs as Bullseye stays evasive, trying to trade information for protection. Eventually, Matt gets angry and leaves, but not before striking Poindexter’s head against a metal table, claiming the prisoner was responsible.
Later on, Matt eventually makes a visit to his beloved old watering hole for the first time since the night Foggy was gunned down, only to discover that Foggy had been celebrating something. This strengthens Matt’s belief that Foggy was deliberately silenced. The narrative then primarily revolves around the “Black and White Ball,” a prestigious event held in celebration of the new Mayor and his spouse. Accessible to individuals with diverse power bases, Heather received an invitation due to her role in dismantling Muse in the previous installment. By association, Matt too was extended an invitation, though he hesitates to attend because of his animosity towards Fisk.

While the Black and White Ball is underway, Bullseye is being attended to in the infirmary due to his recent wounds. However, things take a turn for the worse when Poindexter discovers he has a loose tooth. After extracting it, he hurls it towards the prison guard, striking him in the eye. In the ensuing chaos, he also kills the doctor and manages to escape from prison, disguised as a guard.
At the grand Black and White Ball in New York, Fisk can be seen interacting with influential figures and key individuals, among them being Jack Duquesne, alias The Swordsman. It’s evident that the discussions between Fisk and these powerful figures are leveraging his clout and criminal history to compel their compliance. One particular woman appears uncertain about her husband’s whereabouts, suggesting it’s not merely a party absence. Numerous encounters conclude with Fisk discussing finances, but the specific details of these conversations remain undisclosed.
In several instances, Fisk often concludes discussions by bringing up financial matters, but the details of these talks remain undisclosed.
At the party, Matt finds himself in a challenging situation when he encounters Heather, who isn’t sympathetic towards masked vigilantes and is puzzled by his issues with Wilson Fisk. While Matt broods and has a heated exchange with Heather, the Fisks make jabs at him, aware that their whispers can be heard even from where he stands on the dance floor.
How Does Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 End?
Trouble Is On The Horizon
The enigma behind who commanded Bullseye to assassinate Foggy has been unraveled by Matt as he observes the intricate workings at the ball. Initially, he suspected Kingpin as the one giving the order, but a sudden revelation leads him to believe that it was Vanessa who orchestrated the hit. Tensions appear to be escalating between Matt and Vanessa when Bullseye prepares for the killing shot. However, the bullet intended for Kingpin is deflected by Matt, who sacrifices himself and takes the bullet instead. The episode concludes with Matt lying on the ground, being tended to by Heather.
An Unlikely Teamup

Following a reminder that he doesn’t oversee Fisk’s “rogue cop unit,” the Police Commissioner encounters BB Uhrich, leading to a conversation about who holds authority. It becomes clear that BB is aware that Wilson Fisk might be connected to her uncle’s demise. She implicitly blames the commissioner for orchestrating the actions of the Gestapo, but he clarifies his lack of control over those officers. Both parties appear to acknowledge their shared goal of countering the Fisks.
