Warning: Sidequest spoilers for World of Warcraft: The War Within Patch 11.1, Undermined, below
Characters in World of Warcraft’s Patch 11.1 will have the opportunity to secure their own apartment, offering a sneak peek into the upcoming full player housing feature. This is not the complete housing experience but gives fans a taste when Patch 11.1 goes live.
At Blizzard’s initial Warcraft Direct event, it was World of Warcraft that unveiled Undermined, their first significant content update for The War Within. Moreover, they officially confirmed to fans that player housing would be introduced in World of Warcraft during Midnight, which is the second expansion of the Worldsoul Saga.
It appears that Patch 11.1 will offer a sneak peek at player housing, although it’ll be in a more confined form. As you traverse Undermine in the latest World of Warcraft update, you may come across a wanted poster posted over a rental sign, guiding you to the Barrelbottoms apartment complex. Upon arrival, you encounter Mama Keara, one of the tenants, and discover a plot involving Moz Barrelbottom, who poses as a kind landlord, yet pays a motorcycle gang to harass residents so he can inflate protection fees. By liberating trapped tenants and vanquishing the gang, players aid Mama Keara in overthrowing Moz. In return for their assistance, she rewards the hero with a penthouse apartment at no cost.
Undermine Apartment in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
For the first time outside of Garrisons or Class Order Halls, World of Warcraft offers players a personal living space similar to this. As shown by Wowhead’s pictures of the apartment, its quaint yet worn-out look and location cannot be altered, leaving fans with an obstructed city view due to a massive sewer pipe. Nevertheless, the room boasts a unique innkeeper, enabling characters to designate the suite as their home point for swift teleportation using Hearthstone.
Details regarding how player housing will function in World of Warcraft are still scarce, but players should anticipate a more advanced system compared to the Undermine apartment. The complete feature is scheduled for release in mid-2026, although the expansion’s unveiling is tentatively set for summer 2025. Player housing may even be introduced before the end of 2025 as per the updated World of Warcraft roadmap. In the meantime, fans can check out their temporary penthouse suite on the Patch 11.1 Public Test Realm, and officially access it once Undermined is launched, which is expected to happen around February 25, 2026.
