Summary
- Unleashing devastating attacks through Quirk Awakening is rare but powerful.
- Aoyama’s Navel Laser, Geten’s Ice Ply, and Toga’s Transform are standout awakenings.
- Uraraka’s Zero Gravity, Bakugo’s Explosion, and Midoriya’s One For All are also formidable.
In the realm of My Hero Academia, while many individuals possess a unique power known as a Quirk at birth, mastering it to unlock its full potential is an arduous task. When characters are pushed to their utmost limits during intense battles, they might unlock a hidden strength within their Quirk, releasing a formidable attack. Some of these Quirk Awakenings are regarded as the most powerful abilities throughout the storyline.
In the context of how uncommon Quirk Awakenings are in the “My Hero Academia” series, witnessing one is always a significant and thrilling event. However, when it comes to power and dependability, which among them shines the brightest? Here are the most potent Quirk Awakenings that have been shown throughout the storyline of “My Hero Academia”, taking into account their effectiveness in battle within the series.
7. Navel Laser – Aoyama
Aoyama Receives A Significant Damage Boost Late In The Story
- Appearance: Chapter 399
Following the revelation that Aoyama had been secretly betraying them for All For One, he grappled with finding a way and deciding if it was even possible for him to atone for his actions. Fortunately, during the climactic war, Aoyama demonstrated his value, particularly in his battle against Kunieda. Notably, his Naval Laser power experienced a considerable enhancement, allowing him to blast a path through any adversary who dared to confront him.
Utilizing the Naval Laser can be quite challenging due to its complex nature. Aoyama didn’t inherently possess this ability; instead, it was granted to him at a young age. Thus, summoning its awakening is no trivial matter. Even though its enhanced version makes a rare appearance late in the story, it’s still quite an achievement.
6. Ice Ply – Geten
Geten Is Granted Even More Control Over His Ice Manipulation To Use It In Creative Ways
- Appearance: Episode 109
In the narrative, Geten emerges as a character relatively late, with the introduction of the Meta Liberation Army. However, his impact is profound, making him one of the most striking new additions to this part of the story. This is largely due to his unique ability, Ice Ply. With Ice Ply, he can manipulate any ice within his vicinity. What sets Geten apart, though, is his relentless pursuit of strength. As a result, he’s mastered the art of Awakening his Quirk, enabling him to precisely control the temperature of his icy attacks.
During his fight with Dabi, he managed to protect himself from Dabi’s Blueflame by creating an icy barrier around him as a temporary shield, followed by launching sharp icicles unexpectedly. This may not be the most dramatic or flamboyant Awakening, but given the abundance of elemental abilities in the series, it proves to be highly adaptable and efficient in battle situations.
5. Transform – Toga
Toga Is Able To Steal A Person’s Ability, Making Her An Unpredictable Villain To Face In Battle
- Appearance: Episode 109
Toga’s unique trait, Transform, enables her to mimic someone else’s appearance upon ingesting a small amount of their blood. For instance, she tricked her way into the Provisional License Exam disguised as Cammie. Initially, this power seems ideal for covert operations. However, it’s not until Toga meets the cunning informant called Curious that she truly grasps the extent of her power’s potential.
Suddenly, Toga morphs into Uraraka, only to discover that she can also utilize a student’s Quirk. She then utilizes this power to brutally squash Curious into the ground. In the climactic battle, it becomes evident just how incredibly potent this Transformation is when Toga floods the battlefield with numerous Twice clones, aiming to overpower the heroes. The significant drawback of needing blood is a notable concern, but the devastation Toga can inflict with her exceptional Transformation ability is difficult to overlook.
4. Zero Gravity – Uraraka
Uraraka Can Decimate An Entire Group Of Villains With Her Deadly Awakening Attack
- Appearance: Episode 158
In the narrative, Zero Gravity has consistently been a remarkable ability, but its main disadvantage was that Uraraka needed to touch someone or something for it to rise into the air. However, towards the climactic battle of the story, Uraraka eventually discovers how to activate her power during her confrontation with Toga. In this instance, she managed to lift a vast number of her Twice Clones off the ground and then brought them crashing down, effectively eliminating them for good.
Despite the considerable impact it had on Uraraka following its use, the extensive reach of this ability proves incredibly effective against multitudes of villains. Zero Gravity, in its standard form, is already formidable; however, when awakened, its power potential skyrockets to an entirely new dimension.
3. Explosion – Bakugo
Bakugo Was Able To Overwhelm Both All For One And Shigaraki With His Awakened Abilities
- Appearance: Episode 149
In the climactic battle, it was believed that only Midoriya could bring down Shigaraki and All For One, but let me tell you, my friend, Bakugo proved everyone wrong by holding his own and dishing out some serious damage to the duo! When he took the offensive against Shigaraki, he had no choice but to awaken his Quirk, enabling him to unleash an arsenal of brand-new Cluster attacks. These explosions are smaller and more focused, allowing Bakugo to use them with unprecedented accuracy. But what sets these attacks apart is their versatility – he can manipulate them in countless ways to outmaneuver his enemies!
Is it possible for Bakugo to employ various techniques with his newfound ability? Whether he aims to traverse the skies to reach a destination or unleash a storm of explosions on an enemy, Bakugo has numerous ways to do so. Interestingly, his explosions have grown significantly more potent and can now be generated without the need for his hands. In fact, Bakugo’s Quirk became so devastating that it even took All For One by surprise, inflicting enough damage to transform him back into a child, leading to his demise.
2. One For All – Midoriya
Inheriting All The Previous Users’ Quirks Has Made Midoriya An Incredibly Strong Hero
- Appearance: 98
In the initial episode, when Midoriya acquires One For All from All Might, he finds it challenging to utilize its maximum strength without shattering his bones. Yet, as Midoriya gradually masters the legendary Quirk, something unusual transpires during the Joint Training Arc: black whips start emerging from his hand. Not long after, Banjo, a former bearer of One For All, informs Midoriya that he can anticipate inheriting all of the past users’ abilities over time.
In an unprecedented event, the Vestiges experienced a collective awakening that had never occurred before. This unity was crucial as they all worked towards making Midoriya powerful enough to defeat All For One, a feat they had all failed at in the past. With the ability to simultaneously utilize seven Quirks – such as smokescreens, danger senses, and air elevation – along with the natural power surge that comes with One For All, Midoriya becomes one of the strongest characters by the end of the series once he masters using these abilities effectively in combat.
1. Decay – Shigaraki
The Heroes Became Utterly Terrified Of Shigaraki Once He Started Pushing Decay To Its Full Potential
- Appearance: 112
Shigaraki’s ability to decay has been extraordinarily potent since the get-go, but due to his suppressed and twisted recollections, he had a hard time fully utilizing it, more so because its power led to the unfortunate demise of his entire family. However, during his confrontation with Re-Destro, memories, pain, and most notably, Decay’s destructive capabilities began resurfacing in him, the villain.
Once Decay is activated, it has the power to erase entire landscapes instantaneously, even objects and people who haven’t been directly touched by Shigaraki. The key factor here is that if they are connected to something being decayed, their existence will also be wiped out simultaneously. This ability could pose a significant threat during the final battle, requiring numerous Pro-Heroes to pool all their resources just to prevent Shigaraki from making contact with the ground, highlighting the lethal nature of this power.
