You’re Probably Sleeping on This 92 Metacritic Masterpiece from 2025 (And It’s Not Expedition 33)

The game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which launched directly on Xbox Game Pass and recently won awards, has seen a big increase in players – and rightfully so. But don’t forget about all the other fantastic games added to the service this year! Even with the recent price increase for Xbox Game Pass, 2025 has still brought a lot of great titles to the platform.

Xbox Game Pass had a fantastic year, with 15 of its games nominated for awards at The Game Awards 2025. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was a huge success, winning more awards than any other game – including the prestigious Game of the Year. While Expedition 33 is widely considered one of the best games of 2025, and potentially of all time, other great games launched directly onto Game Pass also deserve recognition. In my opinion, Blue Prince, a challenging first-person puzzle game, was another standout title, but it didn’t receive any awards and might be overshadowed by the popularity of Expedition 33.

Blue Prince is One of the Best Games on Game Pass Right Now

Though Blue Prince didn’t win at The Game Awards—both Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie went to Expedition 33—it was still a major success. The game earned nominations in two categories, and impressively, it shares the same high score as the winning game on Metacritic. Both Blue Prince and Expedition 33 currently boast a 92/100 rating on the review site, proving both are among the best games released this year. This also highlights the excellent quality of games added to Game Pass in 2025.

If you haven’t played Blue Prince before, it’s a game where you begin in the lobby of a mansion with three doors to choose from. Each door leads to a room, and you get to decide what that room will be from a few options. The main objective is to find Room 46, but it’s tricky because many paths lead to dead ends, and you have a limited number of steps you can take. The game does offer permanent upgrades and useful items to help you explore, but remember that the mansion’s layout changes completely every day.

It typically takes 10 to 15 hours to finish Blue Prince, but completionists who want to explore every corner of the game can expect to spend over 100 hours. The game is packed with intriguing mysteries and difficult puzzles, making the experience of solving them very satisfying. Playing with a friend can enhance the fun – you can switch off on attempts and have one person keep notes while the other plays.

Blue Prince Won’t Be on Game Pass Forever

The game Blue Prince is currently included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, but it won’t stay there indefinitely. Most games added to Game Pass on day one are available for about a year, and then they’re removed. While there are always exceptions, Blue Prince, which launched in April 2025, will likely be taken off the service around April or May 2026. If you have Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, I suggest playing it soon while it’s still available.
