As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from epic victories to heart-wrenching defeats, and everything in between. However, the recent antics of some streamers like Norme and PrimeTime have left me scratching my head.

Internet personality Norme is trying to set a new record by streaming live without sleeping for more than 200 hours straight. As the broadcast continues, the consequences of being awake for such an extended period are starting to show, with Norme occasionally drifting off on camera and displaying signs of hallucination.

Live streamers frequently undertake demanding tasks directly on their streams to keep their viewers engaged. One such challenge is streaming non-stop without any rest, which can be extremely tough for many streamers. For example, a popular streamer named PrimeTime, who is recognized for his “Grand Theft Auto” Online RP sessions, set a new world record in September for the longest uninterrupted stream without sleep. His goal was to surpass the 162-hour record held by another streamer, and he succeeded with an impressive 164-hour stream while still engaging with his viewers. Despite aiming for 200 hours, he ended the stream before reaching that mark.

Currently, YouTuber Norme is engaged in an arduous sleep challenge called “No Sleep for 12 Days – WORLD RECORD Stream.” With over 1.2 million subscribers, Norme is renowned for his diverse rating videos on various subjects. As of now, he has surpassed the 238-hour mark in this challenge. His brother Don and a team of supporters are maintaining close watch over the stream and employing various tactics to keep him awake. Norme aims to reach a total of 288 hours, which is equivalent to 12 days without sleep, leaving him approximately 50 hours from his ambitious goal. It’s important to mention that he has already shown signs of decreased consciousness during the stream.

Viewers Urge YouTuber Norme to Take a Break and Get Some Sleep

At present, around 1,000 viewers are tuned in, showing clear signs of worry. The audience’s comments imply that Norme might benefit from a rest, with some suggesting potential cognitive issues he could be facing. Additionally, there are ongoing conversations about the potential health hazards associated with prolonged sleep challenges, emphasizing the dangers of extended periods without adequate rest. This situation mirrors other demanding streaming events, like the Twitch closet challenge, which likewise sparked health-related concerns.

Last August, live-streamer Izidore undertook a challenge called the “closet challenge,” where he spent three days confined in a compact, dark closet. His audience controlled parts of his experience via donations. In the closet, he was presented with tasks such as tolerating loud bangs, getting hit by ping-pong balls, and being drenched with water. To make it more difficult, Izidore pledged to destroy his car if he gave up before the 72-hour mark. Regrettably, despite his strong resolve, he had to halt the live stream after approximately 48 hours due to severe sleep deprivation, respiratory issues, and intense discomfort.
