In the latest installment titled “Alone” from the Blue Exorcist series, dubbed as The Blue Night Saga, we delve deeper into the shared history between Shiro and Yuri, uncovering more about their past. So far in this season, we’ve witnessed the tremendous hardships that Shiro has endured.
In this installment, Shiro, our lively, liberated protagonist, finishes his exorcist training, bringing joy all around. Notably, adorable interchanges between Yuri and Shiro enrich this episode, making it stand out as the finest yet. This episode delves into the lives of Yuri and Shiro as exorcists, revealing the types of missions they face.
Shiro Becomes An Exorcist
Pops Is Finally Free
The story opens with Shiro and his guardian, Fujimoto – who happens to be the same man with the demonic canine that rescued Yuri and Shiro and sent them to an institution. In this episode, Fujimoto praises Shiro for successfully completing his exorcist certification test. As they venture through a wintry forest, Fujimoto pauses momentarily to rest, but then is suddenly and viciously assaulted by an unidentified assailant.
In haste, Shiro races to help Fujimoto, but tragically, it’s too late. Due to excessive blood loss, Fujimoto succumbs to death. Upon his demise, the demon black dog, his companion since the initial episode, vanishes. Just before passing, Fujimoto expresses remorse over not being able to provide Shiro a gift for his exam. Consequently, after Fujimoto’s death, Shiro keeps Fujimoto’s glasses as a token of remembrance.
Enjoying His Freedom
In the end, Shiro Fujimoto secures his liberation from Section 13 with dignity, ascending to the rank of top-tier senior exorcist. Simultaneously, Yuri makes an appearance in this scene, advancing to the position of second-class junior exorcist. Her colleagues recognize Yuri’s potential to reach the first-class level or even become an Exwire; however, Yuri expresses her preference for studying and nurturing demons over fighting them, revealing her compassionate nature. Regrettably, Shiro continues to display rude behavior towards Yuri, a behavior that is difficult to watch.
Over the subsequent sequences, Shiro revels in his liberation as an exorcist, frequently visiting bars late into the night and forming intimate relationships with several women. Notably, Shiro is well-liked among his female coworkers, yet Yuri observes a certain solitude within him, despite the abundance of affection and admiration he receives.
Yuri Proves Her Skills
In the upcoming sequence, we journey to Mexico for a mission involving a spirit that has taken control of a valuable artifact, causing chaos. As the exorcists deliberate potential resolutions, Yuri proposes that this spirit could be a golem, offering to tackle the predicament himself.
Yuri faces off against an enormous monster charging at her. Despite the frightening predicament, she stands firm and keeps her cool. As it turns out, Yuri’s intuition was correct since the Golem doesn’t attack her, and she manages to expel the demon without having to engage in battle. However, when everyone commends Yuri for her actions, Shiro grows enraged by her methods and, driven by his anger, shoves Rick – Yuri’s friend.
People who hurt others because they are suffering are weaklings! – Yuri to Shiro
In response, Yuri strikes Shiro and labels him as feeble due to his tendency to harm others while in distress. However, Shiro attempts to retaliate, only to find himself halted by a potent blue energy field before he could reach Yuri.
Yuri Confesses Her Love
In the Academy, both Yuri and Shiro are returned. One day, as Yuri tends to the familiars in the garden, Shiro happens upon her. Yuri expresses remorse for her past actions, explaining that her outbursts stem from a difficult childhood, which made her sensitive about being labeled weak. This revelation leaves Yuri feeling deeply saddened, and she initiates a surprising kiss towards Shiro, startling him. As she opens up about her feelings, Shiro inquires about her age, stating that she seems too young.
This version aims to maintain the original meaning while using simpler language and a more conversational tone.
Satan Possesses A Body
In section 13, Rin and Mephisto find researchers working with elixir 97. As Rin peers at a test subject, the subject’s eyes flash open, revealing blue orbs, suggesting that the body is host to Satan himself. Mephisto later reveals that this was the initial instance of possession by Satan, but the hold was so tenuous that it went unnoticed by all.
Mephisto suggests that Satan spent nine years transforming and taking control of this body. Throughout those nine years, Yuri and Shiro grow into adults, with Yuri’s beauty blossoming even more. This episode stands out as exceptional due to the adorable exchanges between Shiro and Yuri. Moreover, they manage to resolve their conflicts and establish a strong friendship.
This particular episode about Satan’s origin is equally thrilling to behold, and the animation throughout is top-notch. Despite the cheerful atmosphere and heartwarming scenes that Mephisto provided, this story promises a tragic ending, which leaves us eagerly anticipating what the next installment might bring.
