- Achievements for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch 2 will be tracked via the Nintendo Switch App, not in-game.
- Upgrades for both Zelda games on Switch 2 will include Zelda Notes, Voice Memories, and Autobuild Sharing.
- Both Zelda games will be launch titles for the Switch 2, with a new Hyrule Warriors game coming in Winter 2025.
In the upcoming versions of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom,” achievements will be incorporated; however, there’s a twist: these accomplishments won’t be part of the actual gameplay within the games themselves. Instead, Nintendo has planned some upgrades for both Zelda titles when they launch on the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 console. The inclusion of achievements in these iconic games has sparked much excitement among fans.
During a recent Nintendo Direct focusing on their upcoming console, it was disclosed that editions of games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for the Switch 2 were announced. The unexpected news included the revelation that the Switch 2 would retail at $449.99 and hit stores on June 5, much sooner than many in the gaming community had anticipated.
At the event, it was disclosed that both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its upcoming sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, will offer achievements on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This is only possible if players utilize the Nintendo Switch App. As stated by Nintendo, this app will monitor achievements, awarding gamers with digital medals within the app depending on their performance in the game, such as counting opened chests, earned Rupees, and so forth. The Achievements section of the app showcases accomplishments directly connected to a player’s progression in their gaming journey, including categories like “Quests and Adventures Completed,” “Shrines of Light Cleared,” and “Locations Explored.”
Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Achievements Will Be Tracked on the Nintendo Switch App
Luckily, Switch 2 players will find more than just one beneficial enhancement when they play Zelda games with the Nintendo Switch App. Notably, the Zelda Notes feature is designed to aid navigation during gameplay, offering guidance on locating Shrines, Koroks, or other hidden items. Furthermore, the Voice Memories section enriches the Legend of Zelda’s lore as players delve deeper into their exploration, and tools like Autobuild Sharing let gamers share their creations with others. Although these features necessitate a smartphone with an app and are entirely optional, they provide a novel approach to keep the experience feeling new, particularly for those replaying the game.
The new Switch 2 console will feature “Zelda” games at launch, a move that makes sense considering the impressive success of these titles for Nintendo. To date, “Breath of the Wild” has sold over 34 million copies, while “Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” has sold more than 21.5 million units, further solidifying its status as another major hit for the company.
Fans of Zelda can look forward to another game for the Switch 2, titled “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment“. This upcoming action game is set to act as a precursor to “Tears of the Kingdom“, and it’s scheduled for release in Winter 2025.
