Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – Big Shot Guide

As a seasoned adventurer who’s been through countless quests and dungeons, I can confidently say that the “Big Shot” side quest in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is one for the books! The challenge lies not so much in finding the missing Zora but rather in tracking him down before he’s found on your map.

Once you start working on filling up the large gaps in the areas of “Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”, it’s a good idea to go back to their corresponding cities and take on some side missions. You’ll be rewarded with items like Heart Pieces and Might Crystals. If you revisit the River Zora, you might find a clue about the “Big Shot” side quest. This is one of the easier tasks in “Echoes of Wisdom”, but it would still be helpful if your Echoes could fight effectively underwater. However, finding the missing Zora will be quite a challenge, as his location won’t appear on the map until after you’ve found him yourself.

“Big Shot” Walkthrough

Where to Find the River Zora

Once you finish the “Still Missing” primary mission, you have the option to revisit River Zora Village for a chat with Dradd. Here, he informs you that one of his aides has gone missing, and it’s the one who was hanging out near the small pool in their hut. He provides a clue about the missing assistant’s whereabouts, suggesting you look in Seesyde Village. The last known sighting of this individual was there.

Should you find yourself inside Dradd’s abode when he’s absent, you might have encountered Rogma near Zora Cove instead. This could potentially trigger the “Secret Chief Talks” side quest.

Move towards the Waypoint stone located outside Zora Cove and swim westward. If you are utilizing the warp point at Seesyde Village, then proceed south from the docks. You’ll come across a small boat with the missing Zora standing on its rooftop. The boat is surrounded by Bombfish and two Chompfin. As soon as Zelda spots him, the quest “Big Shot” will be added to your log of adventures. If you’re having difficulty locating the Zora, take note of the blue objective marker shown in the image below for guidance.

You’ll need aquatic Echoes to save the River Zora. The easiest way to defeat them is to send out a Chompfin Echo. This will take care of the Chompfin and the Bombfish. You can also use a Bombfish of your own. If you’re doing this quest immediately after “Still Missing”, Tri’s level will most-likely be level 4. This is just enough to summon 1 Chompfin Echo. If you want to be able to summon more Echoes to clear this side quest, then you should level up Tri to have 6 triangles as opposed to 5. Here’s a list of recommended Echoes for “Big Shot”:

  • Chompfin
  • Bombfish
  • Biri
  • Tangler (and Tangler Lv. 2)
  • Bio Deku Baba

After saving River Zora, he’ll reward you with ten Riverhorses and arrange a sailing trip back to Seesyde Village for you. Moreover, Riverhorses can be purchased from the local store within the River Zora village itself. However, consuming a raw Riverhorse isn’t advisable; instead, they can serve as an ingredient for various smoothie recipes. Here are some examples of dishes that utilize Riverhorses:
