As a seasoned gamer with over 20 years of gaming under my belt, I’ve learned to appreciate the finer details of each game world. After diving into the mystical realm of Hyrule in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, finding myself at the crossroads of Gerudo Desert and Jabul Waters, I must admit, it was a tough call.
Following your successful exploration and discovery of the Suthorn Ruins in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a significant decision awaits you next. You now have two destinations to consider, each one harboring more Rifts that have surfaced – Gerudo Desert lies to the west, while Jabul Waters stretches out to the north. Which path will you choose?
This guide compares two distinct regions, emphasizing that they differ significantly in terms of challenge level and accessibility. The primary contrasts are their degrees of difficulty and the distances you need to journey to reach them. The guide highlights some fundamental benefits for each location, such as a unique Echo that can only be found in either region, to assist players in choosing their initial destination post-introductory section: Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters.
Gerudo Desert & Jabul Waters In Echoes of Wisdom
Jabul Waters Is Relatively Easy, But Distant
- Highlight: Water Block Echo
In the game Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda first ventures into Jabul Waters, which is inhabited by two Zora tribes: the River Zoras and the Ocean Zoras. Lately, it seems that Lord Jabu-Jabu, a powerful spirit residing there, has become disturbed, possibly due to the appearance of Rifts nearby.
Compared to Jabul Waters and Gerudo Desert, the Zora domain offers a relatively more tranquil experience, as enemies are generally less bothersome. Although there are some particularly irritating adversaries, the majority of this underwater journey provides a relaxing atmosphere, stunning landscapes (featuring a ship resembling a Galleon), and one of the best early game challenges: the Water Block Echoes.
With just a single use of Tri Power, this handy Echo tool generates a watery cube in mid-air, allowing Zelda to swim through it. It serves as a barrier against enemies, extinguishes flames, and provides access to otherwise unreachable spots in the environment.
Gerudo Desert Is Close To Suthorn Forest, But More Difficult
- Highlight: Flying Tile Echo
In the game Echoes of Wisdom, when given the option to visit either the Gerudo or Zora dungeon first, you’ll likely find that the Gerudo Desert lies just to the west, a short distance away by stone’s throw, whereas Jabul Water is located much further up north. This could give the impression that the Gerudo Desert might be more accessible and straightforward since it appears on a more direct pathway.
The Gerudo Desert poses a greater challenge compared to Jabu-Wati Temple due to its tougher foes and the distortion effect caused by sandstorms on the map. However, if you’re up for an early-game hurdle, tackling Gerudo Desert first could prove to be the quickest path. After conquering this area, you can then proceed to Jabu Waters, which is adjacent to Hyrule Castle and continues the main storyline.
As a fan, I can’t wait to break the dawn in Gerudo Desert for the thrill of obtaining the Flying Tile Echo! Just like the Water Block Echo, this magical tile is a game-changer. It allows me to access tricky spots or areas that seem impossible to reach otherwise. Here’s how it works: summon the Flying Tile, hop on board, and it will soar in the direction I called it from. What an exciting way to explore the vast expanses of Hyrule!
So, Should You Go To Gerudo Desert Or Jabul Waters First?
In the game ‘Echoes of Wisdom’, deciding whether to venture into Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters initially depends on the level of challenge you’re comfortable with at this early stage. The game’s swift travel system minimizes the effect of distance between these locations, but it remains a consideration for players aiming to complete ‘Echoes of Wisdom’ quickly.
To put it simply, if you’re looking to make progress quicker in the future, even though you might encounter more challenging foes with fewer health points, consider venturing into Gerudo Desert initially.
If you prefer the less challenging path and are willing to make a slight detour, start by visiting Jabul Waters first. After collecting some additional Echoes and Heart Containers, Fast Travel back to the entrance of Gerudo Desert.
