Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Duplication Glitches Still Work After New Updates

In the current version of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” duplication glitches for items persist. On the other hand, the most recent update in the game seems to be focusing on eliminating a different kind of exploit that some players of “Tears of the Kingdom” have recently been trying out.

As a gamer, I was thrilled when the two 3D Zelda games from the Switch-era received significant performance enhancements on the Switch 2. However, Nintendo chose to put these upgrades behind a paywall, offering them for $9.99 each or as part of the NSO + Expansion Pack subscription. These updates were released on June 5, coinciding with the launch of the new console. Since then, Nintendo has been making minor tweaks to address some issues that cropped up in the original versions of their revamped games. The most recent of these updates dropped on July 4.

In line with Nintendo’s usual patch updates, enthusiastic fans who installed the latest version (1.4.2) promptly explored known item duplication glitches within the game, some of which were present before July 2025. Preliminary findings suggest that these Tears of the Kingdom item duplication issues persist in the most recent build as well.

Tears of the Kingdom’s Most Convenient Item Duplication Glitch Is Still Going Strong

In the list of active exploits for the game “Tears of the Kingdom,” there’s a technique known as “split item duplication” (SID). First discovered by Telkic, it was later refined by WinnerBoi77 and mulberry. At present, this method is widely recognized as one of the most practical ways to replicate various game components in the game. To set up this exploit, you’ll need at least three units of the item you wish to duplicate, a bow, and an item that can be placed to the left of your target item within the menu when sorted.

The process for using SID isn’t overly complex but does have a few steps. First, you should remove all instances of the consumable item from your inventory except one. Next, select a bow and merge the extra item with it. Afterward, open your materials menu and ensure that your chosen consumable is placed to the left of the merged item. Then, eat the consumable while keeping the bow unequipped. You can choose any action such as mounting Mineru, performing a shield jump, or using the paraglider next. While still in midair, open your materials menu again and you’ll see two stacks of the target item: one with a single unit and another reflecting its true amount. Hold as many items from this real stack as possible, press the minus button to open and exit the album, and all the held items will be duplicated as they fall to the ground.

Nintendo Patches TOTK’s QR Code-Related Exploits

As a gamer, I’ve been enjoying the latest update for my favorite game, Tears of the Kingdom. However, I noticed that the developers have made some changes to prevent certain exploits, specifically focusing on item duplication. Previously, I could use a Switch save file editor to load unrealistic creations into the game using Autobuild QR codes. But since the 1.4.2 update, it appears that this method no longer works. Now, I can only create items within the game’s intended boundaries, which makes the gaming experience more authentic and fair for everyone.
