As a devoted fan, I’ve crafted an impressive, navigable mechanical sea creature within the mesmerizing world of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”. This marvel has sparked widespread admiration online, underscoring yet again the boundless creativity that this game encourages.
Two years ago, on May 12th, the most recent game in the The Legend of Zelda series, called Tears of the Kingdom, was released. Even though it’s now been almost three years, there’s still a vibrant group of players who love to play around with its construction features, spending lots of time on their own or collaborating, and sharing what they create with others.
On the fittingly titled r/HyruleEngineering subreddit, Kmarkow, an active and inventive contributor, recently unveiled his latest project – a massive mechanical fish vehicle. This innovative design was sparked by a 2023 sea creature concept from Reddit user Uoma_Never_Seen, who also crafted a colossal mechanical goose in the game Tears of the Kingdom.
Kmarkow’s Fish Build Relies on a TOTK Enlargement Glitch
Kmarkow’s invention employs the distinctive Tenoko Island Boat, located southeast in Hyrule within Tears of the Kingdom’s Necluda Sea. This boat is renowned for its exceptional performance in constructing ships within the game, thanks to its outstanding buoyancy. In constructing his creation, Kmarkow exploited a recently discovered glitch known as the Moe expansion bug, using it to alter various components during the building phase. This particular glitch was first documented in 2025.
Kmarkow’s TOTK Mechanical Fish Component List
- 5x Zonai Sleds
- 3x Construct Heads
- 3x Zonai Fans
- 2x Keese Eyeballs / Mighty Zonaite Swords (enlarged via Moe enlargement glitch)
- 1x Zonai Steering Stick
- 1x Zonai Big Battery
- 1x Tenoko Island boat
In the current version 1.2.1 of “Tears of the Kingdom”, the Moe enlargement glitch still works. Since Nintendo last updated the game in August 2023, it seems doubtful that this glitch will be fixed. However, it remains uncertain whether all active glitches will persist in the Switch 2 Edition of “Tears of the Kingdom”. This edition is expected to be released as an upgrade for existing players or as a standalone product starting June 5, coinciding with the launch of the new console on the same day.
Kmarkow’s construction mainly utilizes ordinary components, such as Zonai Sleds serving as the mechanical fish’s fins, along with three Construct Hands and three Zonai Fans, among other pieces. The completed structure includes 18 items, falling short of the game’s limit of 21 components. This means that there is some flexibility for adding more features to the mechanical fish, like incorporating a cannon that automatically targets enemies when connected to a Construct Head.
