Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Players Build Flying Dutchman Pirate Ship

I’ve been totally blown away by what people are creating in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! Someone actually built a fully functional pirate ship… that flies! The Tears of the Kingdom community is always making amazing machines, but this one is special. It’s based on the Flying Dutchman, and the detail is just incredible. As a Zelda fan, I’m seriously impressed!

It’s crazy to think Tears of the Kingdom has been out for a couple of years already! As the sequel to Breath of the Wild, it brought back that same amazing Hyrule, but with a ton of new stuff like the Sky Islands and The Depths. But honestly, the thing that really stood out to me was Ultrahand. Being able to grab anything and stick it to anything else to build crazy machines with those Zonai devices? It was a game-changer. And since the game came out, people have been building some seriously impressive stuff with it – it’s been awesome to see!

The Flying Dutchman Pirate Ship Made in Tears of the Kingdom

I was absolutely blown away by this recent creation I saw on Reddit! A user named kmarkow teamed up with CaptainPattPotato to build The Flying Dutchman in Tears of the Kingdom, and it seriously didn’t disappoint. The ship is HUGE – it makes Link look tiny! They included tons of sails and even a little platform for you to stand on and ‘steer.’ But what really makes it special is that it flies! I saw a video on Reddit of it sailing between the Sky Islands, and it even flew right alongside one of the dragons in Tears of the Kingdom – it was incredible!

When kmarkow shared the project, they explained that CaptainPattPotato was key to making the pirate ship fly, calling them an expert in large, airborne Juney creations. Kmarkow also thanked the Hyrule Engineering subreddit for their assistance with adjusting the size of various parts. They listed the modified components, including the wings, sails, and a Juney wagon.

A stunning creation inspired by the Flying Dutchman has become popular on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, racking up hundreds of upvotes and positive feedback. The creator, CaptainPattPotato, shared that the finished version is surprisingly quiet compared to the first attempt, which had its engine in the back. Luckily, kmarkow provided QR codes so other players can easily build it themselves in Tears of the Kingdom using the Zelda Notes app.

This is just one example of the incredible machines players have been sharing in Tears of the Kingdom. You don’t need to build anything this complex to finish the game, but these creations really show how imaginative the player community is. Now that the game has been out for a while, players have mastered the building tools and even discovered glitches, allowing them to create things that seemed impossible at first.

The incredibly versatile Ultrahand ability in Tears of the Kingdom is keeping Zelda fans engaged and creative for the foreseeable future. Recently, though, some potential details about the next Zelda game, possibly for the Switch 2, have surfaced. An unconfirmed source suggests it could feature gameplay that spans different dimensions. While this sounds exciting, Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed anything, so it’s best to view this information as speculation. For now, fans can continue to enjoy and share the amazing creations and machine designs being built in Tears of the Kingdom.
