Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is a tale centered around themes of struggle, self-realization, retribution, vengeance, and love. Fundamentally, it revolves around a fierce fight between good and evil, with the fate of mankind hanging in the balance. Given the intense violence of the conflict, longstanding personal feuds have arisen over time, compelling the demon slayers to strive ever harder – sometimes so relentlessly that they meet their end in the process.

It’s clear that not all conflicts are equally intense. Those fueled by deep personal loss and tragedies hold significant weight and play a crucial role in the series’ storyline. The feud between Kaigaku and Zenitsu, stemming from their shared past, is particularly intense, with their struggle for survival inside the Infinity Castle reaching new heights.

Zenitsu and Kaigaku’s Rivalry

The Bully and the Underdog

Zenitsu and Kaigaku had a past relationship, as they were once disciples of the former Thunder Hashira Jigoro Kuwajima. Years prior to their confrontations, they learned under the same master, who was guiding them towards joining the Demon Slayer Corps and improving themselves. However, it seems that Kaigaku didn’t fully appreciate his teachings and often picked on Zenitsu for being shy. He belittled Agatsuma, claiming he lacked talent.

I dislike myself greatly compared to others. I constantly strive for improvement, yet find myself retreating, fleeing, and weeping instead. I yearn for change, seeking to transform into a capable individual.

At a certain juncture, I found Zenitsu advancing through the Final Selection and transitioning into a Demon Slayer. His ties with Kaigaku, who wasn’t initially a friend, seemed to weaken. Later on, Agatsuma crossed paths with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Inosuke. Since then, this band of adventurers has been on numerous missions together and have formed an indissoluble alliance. Meanwhile, Zenitsu was preoccupied with transforming his life, and so was Kaigaku, who also joined the ranks of Demon Slayers. It seems that their paths never intersected again, and unfortunately for Kaigaku, he encountered Kokushibo at some point.

As a passionate follower, I found myself in an unimaginable predicament: Kaigaku, compelled by necessity, embraced his destiny as a demon. Eventually, Muzan chose him to succeed Gyutaro and Daki as the new Upper Moon Six. This revelation left Jigoro, my mentor, overwhelmed with shame, leading him to end his own life in despair. His final moments were marked by pain and torment.

Up until this pivotal moment, Zenitsu had been a timid soul, shying away from training or confronting demons. However, upon learning about the tragic demise of my master, the fear of death that once gripped Agatsuma vanished. In its place, a relentless warrior emerged, fueled by an unquenchable thirst for vengeance against those responsible.

Infinity Castle Movie Will Reveal Who is Stronger

Zenitsu Faces an Uphill Battle in Infinity Castle

In the “Infinity Castle” storyline, Kaigaku prepares to confront his longtime adversary, Zenitsu. The trailer hints at this showdown, as it depicts the moment they meet again after a prolonged absence. Zenitsu’s demeanor suggests a strong resolve, possibly indicating his readiness to risk everything in pursuit of vengeance for Jigoro Kuwajima. Simultaneously, Kaigaku seems confident, potentially due to having received Muzan’s blood as part of the Twelve Kizuku.

Up until now, Agatsuma had to fall into an unconscious state to battle demons; however, overcoming his fear of death seems to have given him the power to control his mind as well. The upcoming fight promises to be thrilling because both characters are well-acquainted with each other’s strengths and weaknesses – they were both taught Thunder Breathing by the same master. One intriguing aspect is that Agatsuma can only utilize one form of Thunder Breathing, which could potentially be exploited by an Upper Moon.

Zenitsu has demonstrated a knack for innovation, having devised several adaptations of Thunderclap and Flash techniques, such as Sixfold, Eightfold, and Godspeed. To survive a fierce battle against someone like Kaigaku, he needs to develop new moves that he hasn’t used before because the ones he’s already created haven’t been powerful enough to defeat an Upper Moon.

Grandfather didn’t suffer from senility. If I’m considered low-class, then you are as well. I pity grandpa for having such unimpressive descendants. All I can manage is the First Form, while you can do everything else except that!

This version maintains the original meaning and tone while using more natural, everyday language to make it easier for readers to understand.

From another perspective, Kaigaku’s change into a demon has made him highly unforeseeable for Zenitsu. Fortunately, he seems to be sticking with his old combat style, as evidenced by the sword he was holding when they encountered each other in the Infinity Castle. However, it would be a grave error to underestimate him due to his limited experience as a demon.

It’s highly probable that Kaigaku has many underhanded tactics hidden from Zenitsu, which could elevate their rivalry into a breathtaking and memorable fight in the series. Their fierce competition, fueled by deep-seated emotions to outdo each other, sets the stage for an epic battle.

The initial part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy is set to debut in the U.S. on September 12, 2025.
