As a die-hard anime fan with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming original show “Zenshu” from MAPPA has me absolutely thrilled! With their impressive track record in the shōnen genre, particularly with “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Attack on Titan (season 4),” “Chainsaw Man,” and “Vinland Saga (season 2),” I’ve come to expect high-quality storytelling and stunning animation.
The fact that “Zenshu” will be premiering on January 5, 2025, on TV Tokyo and Crunchyroll is music to my ears. The idea of an anime artist being transported into an anime world is the kind of absurdity that makes Isekai such a fan-favorite, and with its unique meta twist, I’m already hooked!
I can’t help but wonder if the protagonist, Natsuko Hirose, will face challenges similar to those I encountered when I was starting out in my career as an anime artist. The struggle to find inspiration and create compelling stories is something many of us in this field can relate to.
The English dub cast for “Zenshu” features some familiar voices, including Madeleine Morris as Natsuko, Ryan Negron as Luke, Luci Christian as Unio, Alexis Tipton as Memerun, Derrick Snow as QJ, CJ Critt as the President, Kristy Johnson as Haruko, Chris Guerrero as Mayor, Linda Young as Baobab, and Celeste Perez as Pegbar. I’m particularly excited to see Madeleine Morris bring Natsuko to life, as she has a knack for delivering captivating performances.
Lastly, the opening theme song “Zen” by BAND-MAID and closing theme “Tada, Kimo no Mama de” by Sou promise to add an extra layer of enjoyment to the viewing experience. I’m eagerly counting down the days until January 5, 2025, when I can immerse myself in the world of “Zenshu.”
And as a final thought, let me just say that if Natsuko ever needs help with her storyboarding struggles, she should definitely consult the wise and experienced anime community. After all, we’ve been there!
One of Japan’s leading forces in anime production is set to release a fresh original series, and it’s been confirmed that streaming platform Crunchyroll will offer a simultaneous English dub on the same day.
The recently released series “Zenshu” hails from the acclaimed animation studio, MAPPA. While many casual anime enthusiasts might not recognize the studio’s name directly, they are likely familiar with MAPPA’s output, particularly in the shōnen genre.

What Is Zenshu About? It’s An Isekai With A Meta Twist
Recently, it seems that Isekai anime have become extremely popular. An Isekai is a type of story where the main character gets transported into a different world. What makes this genre interesting is the method by which the character enters this new realm – it could be a sudden physical teleportation (as seen in Re:Zero), a mental creation (like Sword Art Online), or a spiritual journey following death (such as Eminence in Shadow).
Zenshu joins the popular subgenre but adds its own meta twist.
Following my high school graduation, I embarked on my journey as an animator, pouring all my passion into every frame. My skills rapidly bloomed, propelling me to the director’s chair in record time. My debut anime was an instant sensation, igniting a cultural wave and solidifying my reputation as a promising young director. The next chapter of my career promises a romantic comedy film centered around the enchanting world of first love!
However, with no personal experiences of love to draw upon, I find myself at a loss when it comes to crafting the narrative. This creative block has brought the production of this anticipated movie to a grinding halt. One fateful day, while immersed in my struggle to create the storyboard, I suddenly lose consciousness and awaken within the magical realm of my cherished childhood anime, “A Tale of Perishing”.
A series where an artist creating anime gets pulled into one, offers the whimsical madness that keeps fans hooked on Isekai genre. Just hearing about it has me eager to see what this show has in store.

As a longtime anime fan with a deep appreciation for both music and Japanese culture, I must say that I was particularly excited when I discovered “Tada, Kimo no Mama de,” the closing theme song for a popular anime series performed by BAND-MAID’s vocalist Sou. Having followed this unique rock band since their debut in 2013, I have come to respect and admire their fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics with heavy metal music.
The song’s title, “Tada, Kimo no Mama de,” translates to “Just as Expected, As Usual” in English, which seems fitting given the band’s knack for defying expectations and pushing musical boundaries. The lyrics speak of a longing for something familiar, yet just out of reach, and the melody is both hauntingly beautiful and powerfully energetic.
Sou’s vocals are particularly captivating in this song, showcasing her incredible range and emotional depth. Her voice is at once delicate and powerful, conveying a sense of longing and determination that resonates deeply with me as a listener.
Overall, “Tada, Kimo no Mama de” is an excellent addition to BAND-MAID’s discography, and I eagerly anticipate more collaborations between Sou and the band in the future. For fans of Japanese pop culture, music, or just great tunes with a unique twist, this song is definitely worth checking out.
