Aristov, ever the dramatist, explained during a session of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building how seizing bitcoin is like trying to catch a ghost in a haunted house. Upon discovering these cryptic coins in an investigation, law enforcement had to find ways to sell the detected assets without losing their minds in the process.

“One precedent stands out—a criminal case involving confiscated bitcoins,” Aristov proclaimed. ”We are working with relevant authorities to establish a methodology for managing this type of financial instrument, lest we fall prey to the chaos of the crypto world.”

Aristov emphasized Russia’s need for new laws to control both the distribution and administration of digital assets across its vast territory. The Russian government is still pondering over a complete strategy to confiscate and manage cryptocurrencies, as if they were riddles from a fairy tale.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has issued a bill to the government for categorizing cryptocurrencies as criminal law properties. This law aims to simplify the process of asset seizure by defining the criminal investigation rights of virtual currencies. A dedicated fund exists as a new proposal from the Public Chamber for managing cryptocurrency seizure funds intended to fund social projects throughout Russia. Who knew that the proceeds of crime could be so beneficial to society?
