Well, well, crypto markets have been quite the diva under Trump’s rule. Investors, in their optimism, thought regulation and a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve would be just the ticket. Alas, it’s been a rather different song and dance. Bitcoin’s tumbled from its lofty perch above $100,000 to a rather modest mid-80,000s for most of March.

Oh, the drama! Crypto prices have been caught in the same old dance with stocks and bonds, and those pesky tariffs have everyone talking recession. Crypto investors are playing it safe, avoiding the risky stuff like the plague. “It’s all about ‘risk appetite’ which, at the moment, is less than a crumb,” quips Marc Ostwald, the clever chappie at ADM Investor Services International.

“And it’s all thanks to central bank types, who are rather keen on reducing their USD exposure. Such a bore, isn’t it?”

the impact of tariffs on crypto might just be old news, says Zach Pandl, the brainbox at Grayscale. Trump’s set to announce his “Liberation Day” tariffs, and who knows, it might just be the silver lining crypto’s been waiting for.

Pandl, the former Goldman Sachs whiz, reckons tariffs could actually make non-dollar currencies rather fetching. “I daresay tariffs will take the shine off the dollar and make room for the likes of Bitcoin. Prices may have dipped, but I’m more confident than ever in Bitcoin’s future as a global monetary asset,” he declares.

And there you have it, folks. Despite the doom and gloom, Pandl still believes Bitcoin will reach new heights. “I didn’t leave Wall Street for a dud, you know,” he quips. “Bitcoin’s the one to watch!”
