’50 Bitcoin, 440 LTC, 6 Million DOGE’: I Sold It All in One Clip, Reveals Dogecoin Creator

As an analyst with years of experience in the cryptocurrency market, I find Billy Markus, or Shibetoshi Nakamoto, a fascinating and enigmatic figure. His decision to sell his entire crypto portfolio, including a significant amount of DOGE, was a bold move that, at today’s prices, would have netted him a fortune equivalent to $3.76 million.

Known for helping develop Dogecoin (DOGE), often referred to as the well-known meme-based cryptocurrency, Billy Markus – also known as ‘Shibetoshi Nakamoto’ – has revisited the topic of his personal crypto holdings once more.

In response to a question from his followers about his investment in recently launched digital assets, Jack (DOGE co-creator) disclosed that he purchased the Solana meme coin, Moo Deng. However, he lamented that it significantly dropped in value since then, and ultimately admitted that he is not very skillful at picking tokens.

When the discussion touched the performance of the Dogecoin creator with DOGE, though, it became known that Markus actually not only sold his meme coin stash that day but his whole crypto portfolio.

Looking back, I found quite a substantial amount of cryptocurrencies had been stored in my wallet – 50 Bitcoins (BTC), 440 Litecoins (LTC), and approximately 6 million Dogecoins (DOGE). As I recalled, this was enough to purchase a brand new Honda Civic at that time. However, with today’s prices, the value of this crypto stash has skyrocketed to an astounding $3.76 million!

I liquidated all my cryptocurrency holdings at once, which included approximately 50 Bitcoins, 440 Litecoins, and a total of about 6 million Dogecoins. Now I have no more cryptocurrencies left.

It’s possible that some people aren’t aware that the Dogecoin creator sold his cryptocurrency assets because he had left his job and required funds for living expenses. However, he grew uneasy about the direction the DOGE community was taking around 2015, which also motivated him to part ways with his creation.

Although he made a significant mistake that resulted in a massive financial loss (worth millions), Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, continues to be a crucial figure in the world of cryptocurrency. His following on X (previously Twitter) has grown to an impressive two million, indicating that his influence and social standing have only grown stronger over time.
