Compared to earlier versions, it boasts greater satisfaction due to its variety, size, and speed, but lacks depth and individuality because it doesn’t truly innovate. From a technical and visual standpoint, it excels, but the experience quickly plateaus after the initial playtime, and its narrative is rather uninspired at best.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed a significant evolution in open-world games. Even though InFamous: Second Son was undeniably a commendable experience, it’s hard not to feel that the change of generation has redefined our perspective on these expansive game worlds, leaving Second Son somewhat behind.
6. Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
A Franchise That Must Return
For years, I’ve been an ardent admirer of stealth games. Bringing back the Sly Cooper series would be something I eagerly anticipate, as I believe it has the potential to breathe new life into this genre.
Despite not being my top pick among them, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves still holds its ground as a commendable addition to one of the PlayStation 2’s finest series. It continues to embody the qualities that set its predecessors apart.
Among the three options, it offers the smoothest operation, although some might find it less challenging. However, its gameplay encapsulates the classic Sly Cooper feel.
Regrettably, it doesn’t quite possess that enchanting quality that defines a classic, yet it’s an exceptional choice, evoking the charm of the straightforward appeal found in vintage gaming.
5. Infamous 2
A Great Sequel
Among the top-tier action games for the PlayStation 3, Infamous 2 stands out as a key factor contributing to the high regard in which Sucker Punch Studios is held by many gamers.
In the sequel, you’ll find combat and movement so engaging that it might hold you captivated on your gaming console for extended periods, making it one of the top superhero titles ever created.
Despite the narrative and karmic system not necessarily breaking new ground, they were still engaging, weaving seamlessly into a cohesive whole that offered a unique, immersive gaming experience.
If you weren’t fond of the initial game, InFamous 2 won’t offer any fresh elements to change your mind. However, it’s an excellent choice if you were captivated by Cole MacGrath’s first journey.
4. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
A Classic Cooper Outing
The game titled “Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus” was the one that initially introduced me to the world of stealth-style gaming, doing so in a delightful and engaging manner.
The whole campaign, encompassing its layout, characters, and skills, is an absolute joyride, wrapped in a captivating setting and sprinkled with wit that effortlessly draws you in.
Despite being brief, its unique style and character more than compensate for any content voids that may be apparent.
Among the various aspects like stealth mechanics, mini-games, platforming elements, and controls, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus stands out as one of the top-tier games on the PlayStation 2 and within the entire genre.

Known far and wide, this name is one of many legendary figures who emerged during the early 2000s, largely due to the significant influence that its debut installment exerted.
The unique nature of the concept, featuring thrilling battles, enjoyable open-world navigation, and significant control over its own world, proved irresistible, establishing one of Sony’s cherished gaming series.
While later games in the series may excel somewhat in technical aspects, the original Infamous stands out as the most compelling entry when it comes to atmosphere, pacing, and character development.
Should you prioritize the gaming experience above everything else, Infamous 2 undoubtedly stands out as the superior choice. On the other hand, if a strong storyline and narrative are more important to you, this series truly thrives in that area.

In this updated edition, I’ve got to say, the gameplay, content, diversity, design, plot, and pretty much everything else just blows the original out of the water. It speaks volumes.

The title surpassed all its initial anticipations, eventually earning a place as one of Sony’s most outstanding creations and being recognized as a standout game of its era.
If you own a PlayStation, it’s almost essential to play “Ghost of Tsushima”. This game stands out due to its incredibly cinema-like, engrossing, and fulfilling gaming experience that is seldom found in other games.
