A new Stardew Valley mod adds an entire village to the game along with a mountain of additional content. The farming simulation game from 2016 has been a hit in the modding community, with a dedicated fanbase creating hundreds of mods to expand upon the already extensive gameplay. Even as Stardew Valley approaches its 10-year anniversary, both official updates and user-generated additions continue to keep it fresh and engaging.
The vibrant modding community certainly hasn’t sprung up because of a lack of first-party updates. Developer Eric Barone, under the moniker ConcernedApe, has patched Stardew Valley as recently as February 2025 and has brought new festivals, locations, and items into the game on several occasions despite working on his next title, The Haunted Chocolatier. Barone is far from the only person so committed to expanding the game, though, as a massive recent mod proves.
The Sunberry Village Stardew Valley expansion was uploaded to Nexus Mods on March 15, 2025, adding a whole new hamlet to explore south of Pelican Town. In addition to the titular village, the mod, which was created by skellady, sophiesalacia, and The Sunberry Team, also brings over 15 new NPCs, 80-plus events, and a handful of crops and other items to the game’s already impressive roster of content. It’s not the only massive expansion to go live on the site lately, either, as a Baldur’s Gate-inspired Stardew Valley mod brought a similarly huge list of additions earlier this March.
Sunberry Village Mod Adds a New Town and 17 NPCs to Stardew Valley
Sunberry Village lets players visit a cat café, a clothing store, a flower shop, another blacksmith, and an inn, along with plenty of characters, quests, and storylines to inhabit them. There are also new mines and monsters for those who prefer the combat and exploration side of the game. The mod’s creators are far from done with it, too, promising to bring new characters as early as March 21. Future items and areas aren’t out of the question, either, considering this is the expansion’s first full version. ConcernedApe has previously stated how he could still work on Stardew Valley 50 years from now, and if these massive fan updates are anything to go by, it seems like the modding community shares the sentiment.
As for official new content, there will likely be more in the future, too, but the past few additions have largely been patches to make everything run smoothly after the landmark 1.6. update. Barone still has not given Haunted Chocolatier a release date, but work on that project could delay additional Stardew Valley content. On the other hand, working on his second title hasn’t stopped ConcernedApe from keeping Stardew alive in the past. Should things reach that point, though, there’s still plenty of fan-made content to explore.
