Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel May Be Titled ‘Cyberpunk 2’

Summary

  • The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel may be titled Cyberpunk 2, according to a recent job listing.
  • Currently, the game is known by its codename Project Orion.
  • However, it’s likely that the title for Cyberpunk 2 isn’t actually finalized yet.

It appears that the upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which has yet to be officially titled, could potentially be known as Cyberpunk 2 or simply Cyberpunk 2. Despite a rocky debut in 2020, CD Projekt Red made significant strides to enhance the gameplay experience, resulting in it being widely regarded as one of the greatest action-RPGs ever created today.

Since the rocky debut of Cyberpunk 2077, and its Phantom Liberty expansion, the game has garnered significant praise from critics in subsequent years. Many fans are eagerly anticipating what’s to come for the franchise, and fortunately, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that a new installment of Cyberpunk 2077, currently known as Project Orion, is under development. While specifics about the project remain scarce, there’s speculation that its title may have already been unveiled.

I’ve been keeping tabs on the latest updates from CD Projekt Red, and it appears there could be some exciting changes ahead for the Cyberpunk universe! For quite a while, job postings have pointed to a sequel under the code name “Project Orion,” but more recently, a Producer role listing has been using the title “Cyberpunk 2” instead.

It’s also worth noting that CD Projekt Red has filed a new trademark for the Cyberpunk logo without the “2077.” This leads many to speculate that the “2077” may be left out of future Cyberpunk game titles, paving the way for the sequel to be called “Cyberpunk 2” or something entirely new.

Of course, it’s also possible that “Cyberpunk 2” is just a temporary name, so fans should stay tuned for further updates. Regardless, I find it intriguing that the sequel is now being referred to as “Cyberpunk 2,” instead of Project Orion, which adds a new layer of anticipation for what’s to come!

Project Orion Job Listing Calls the Game Cyberpunk 2

It’s possible that the title for the successor of Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t been decided yet, as it may still be several years before its release. Currently, CD Projekt Red is heavily engaged with their upcoming project, The Witcher 4, which will feature Ciri as the lead character and is anticipated to hit the shelves in the coming years. Once The Witcher 4 is out, CD Projekt Red will eventually move on to the Cyberpunk sequel, but there are other exciting games by this studio that fans can eagerly anticipate.

Apart from “The Witcher 4” and “Cyberpunk 2”, CD Projekt Red is working on several other projects. These include Project Sirius, a multiplayer game based on “The Witcher”, a fresh intellectual property, a remake of “The Witcher 1” using Unreal Engine 5, and a collaboration with Scopely for a game derived from an established franchise. Although we might have to wait longer for updates on “Cyberpunk 2”, there’s a wealth of CD Projekt Red content to explore in the coming years.
