Unreal Engine 5 is now the go-to choice for many game developers, though it took a while to gain widespread adoption. Launched fully in 2022, it’s likely several years away from the release of Unreal Engine 6. While we’ll probably have to wait a long time, the announcement of Unreal Engine 6 is exciting. The new engine could focus even more on realistic graphics, but I’m hoping it explores other possibilities instead.

The Steam Deck, released in 2022, quickly became a popular way for people to play their Steam games on the go. While other handheld gaming devices have emerged, Valve’s Steam Deck remains a favorite among both serious PC gamers and those who play casually. When it first launched, the Steam Deck was available in both LCD and OLED versions, but Valve stopped making the LCD model in late 2025.

It’s important to remember that many Steam players enjoy the Free-to-Keep Promotion, where games are offered for free for a limited time. Beyond that, Lenovo’s Legion Gaming Community also regularly gives away free games. Currently, their giveaway of Heavy Rain has finished, and Train Valley 2 is now available, with another new game planned for June.

Very few people knew about the news in advance – mainly the teams working on the final update and those transferred to the ‘Marathon’ project. These individuals apparently urged leaders to share the information with more of the studio, but it wasn’t done before the public announcement.

The last main installment in the Dragon Quest series came out in 2017 for 3DS and PS4, and was later made available on other systems. Dragon Quest 11 was the best-selling game in the series to date. Now, Square Enix is bringing a definitive version of the game to the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24th, potentially reaching an even wider audience.
