Satoshi Missed ‘Big Opportunity’ Avoiding This Date for Bitcoin Halving: Anthony Pompliano

Anthony Pompliano, the founder of Pomp Investments and a venture investor in Bitcoin, recently shared some thoughts about Satoshi Nakamoto and the upcoming Bitcoin halving on his Twitter account (@APompliano) for his large following to read.

In a playful manner, he posted on Twitter that Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, overlooked an excellent chance to schedule the halving event for April 20th. This date holds significance as “weed day” and more recently, “Dogecoin Day,” despite Dogecoin not being launched in April.

Pompliano suggested that Satoshi Nakamoto might have missed an opportunity to make Bitcoin more relatable and widely adopted by connecting it to the cultural symbol of defiance represented by marijuana. While Bitcoin was designed as a counterpart to traditional currency and banking, cannabis has long been associated with rebellion and is now legal in various countries.

Bitcoin community insists Satoshi made no mistake

In response to Pompliano’s tweet, some members of the Bitcoin community explained that the Bitcoin halving occurred before April 20th in the United States due to its earlier time zone compared to the U.K. and EU.

Some users on Twitter mentioned that the halving event for certain countries occurred on April 20 instead of April 19. One user hypothesized that Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, was European, suggesting that he deliberately scheduled the event for April 20.
