Kai Cenat, a well-known personality on Twitch, has announced that he will no longer proceed with Streamer University due to criticism and financial difficulties encountered along the way. Initially unveiled in February 2025 with a trailer reminiscent of Harry Potter, Streamer University aimed to support aspiring content creators by providing education, mentorship, streaming equipment, and collaboration opportunities with influential figures. Kai Cenat is one of the most prominent Twitch streamers globally, boasting over 17 million followers.
Streamer University stands out as one of Cenat’s most significant ventures so far. Its purpose is to nurture emerging talent within the challenging landscape of the creator community. Utilizing a genuine college campus, approximately 100 students and close to 20 professors, many of whom are renowned streamers, have been chosen to attend Streamer University starting in May 2025.
During the ongoing class, Cenat has announced that there won’t be another session. During one of his live broadcasts, while discussing his ambitious project, Cenat addressed the criticism he frequently encounters, stating that it doesn’t matter what he does because it’s all about supporting the community he belongs to. His history shows a pattern of assistance towards struggling streamers; for instance, he once pledged to cover part of a fellow streamer’s college tuition with a $10,000 donation. Unfortunately, the future of Streamer University appears uncertain at this point.
Streamer University Faces Early Shutdown Due to Criticism
It appears that Cenat feels the criticism towards Streamer University is excessively negative, and he might have abandoned the idea as a result. He’s suggested that people seem to enjoy finding reasons to dislike things, even when it’s him who bears the costs. In his opinion, his financial records are quite steep.
Cent’s fame extends well beyond his Twitch platform, reaching into the tens of millions across multiple platforms. He’s now recognized as one of the world’s most commercially successful streamers. Over the last year, Cent has collaborated with major brands like McDonald’s and celebrities from Hollywood, such as Kevin Hart. These partnerships not only boost his profile but also enable him to contribute back to the community.
With Streamer University possibly shutting down, it may fall on individual efforts rather than organized actions to assist the community again. Some might contend that Cenat’s assistance to families in purchasing groceries individually is significantly less impactful compared to large-scale, college-like settings.
