This winter, Farming Simulator Signature Edition will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. As announced by Giants Software, this exclusive for the new Switch 2 is built around Farming Simulator 25.
Since its debut in 2008, the “Farming Simulator” series has produced a total of 15 main titles. By mid-2025, it’s projected that over 40 million units have been sold, contributing significantly to the popularization and definition of the farming simulation genre.
Software developer and publisher Giants Software is aiming for Nintendo’s future console, the Switch 2, with the announcement of Farming Simulator Signature Edition. Though it’s exclusive to the Switch 2, this new title can be considered an updated version of the recently launched Farming Simulator 25, sharing its foundation. Similar to the 2024 version, Farming Simulator SE will feature a wide variety of farming equipment, boasting 400 machines from over 150 global brands. Additionally, it includes 25 crop types and three distinct maps, enabling players to cultivate farmlands in North America, Europe, and East Asia.
Farming Simulator Signature Edition May Somewhat Differ From FS25
As a gamer, it feels like I’ve been here before with the Farming Simulator Signature Edition. It seems quite similar in concept to the Farming Simulator Switch Edition, which was essentially a rebranded and tweaked version of Farming Simulator 17 that dropped not long after Nintendo’s 2017 console launch. Unlike its predecessor, it didn’t offer multiplayer, modding support, or DLC, which were largely due to the limitations of the target platform, although this wasn’t officially confirmed. With the Switch 2 boasting significantly more power than its previous version, I’m hoping Giants Software can introduce some unique Nintendo-exclusive features, like ModHub support. However, they haven’t clarified yet if the Signature Edition will offer anything different from Farming Simulator 25.
The special edition of Farming Simulator is scheduled to launch this coming winter, which falls within the timeframe of late December 2025 to March 2026. Consequently, it will be one of the initial games exclusively available on Switch 2, joining titles like Fast Fusion, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Survival Kids – all of which are included in the upcoming console’s launch library.
After the debut of “Farming Simulator Switch Edition“, Giants Software has released two more series installments for Nintendo’s initial hybrid console, with approximately one every three years. If this trend continues, “FS Signature Edition” might be the last “Farming Simulator” game for the Switch 2 until about 2028. This doesn’t mean that the Switch 2 will lack farming sim games or titles with similar mechanics; “My Time at Evershine” has already been confirmed for the Switch 2, and many more relaxing games are expected to emerge, particularly given their popularity on Nintendo’s 2017 console. The Switch 2 is also anticipated to host another mainline “Animal Crossing” game during its lifespan.
