Modern video games are plagued by the necessity of day-one patches, as development continues even after the discs or downloadable versions are released. This can be frustrating and detrimental to preservation, but it’s a reality we must accept. Interestingly, Elden Ring Nightreign, releasing tomorrow, May 30th, seems to have a pre-launch patch available already. Unless you’re a journalist, YouTuber, or have an early copy of the game from a friendly video game store clerk, this won’t impact you for some time yet.
The patch notes are also just incredibly useless. Here’s the full list of them:
- Improved handling of playable characters
- Soundtrack addition and adjustments
- Text adjustments
- Balance adjustments
- Added character scenarios
- Bug fixes
It’s worth noting that the new character scenarios might be intriguing for both of us, but what truly sets a FromSoftware game apart is the thrill of uncovering such details on your own. Or alternatively, you may prefer to learn about the lore from a YouTube video if your job leaves little time for playing and pondering over the games you engage with.
This version aims to maintain the original’s tone while using more natural language and a clearer structure.
Regarding Nightreign, I’d like you to check out something significant: a trailer with Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” playing in it. Frankly, I can’t find words enough for this, but it happened! It leaves me baffled as to how this collaboration occurred, but I’m just grateful we’re now past the era where everything from the 2000s is cringe-worthy.

If you’ve been curious about how great Elden Ring Nightreign is, the answer might vary depending on whom you ask. However, according to our critic Nic, it elicited somewhat mixed emotions during his review process.
