Monster Hunter Wilds is getting more PC improvements, but they don’t seem to address the CPU issues tanking the game’s performance

A forthcoming Monster Hunter Wilds patch aims to enhance the game’s underperformance on PC, yet players express concern that Capcom may not be tackling the fundamental problem at hand.

In simple terms, the publisher has unveiled updates for Monster Hunter Wilds version 2, detailing numerous alterations such as reappearing creatures, gear, and special events. However, players using PC versions are keenly observing how this update may influence the game’s performance.

Initially, when Monster Hunter Wilds debuted, it was met with intense criticism from PC gamers due to its frequent technical glitches, recurrent crashes, and peculiar texture problems. Despite efforts to address these issues, some of them have lingered, causing a further decline in the game’s Steam reviews. Currently, only 14% of recent reviews (within the last month) offer positive sentiments, resulting in an ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’ rating. That hurts!

Players were primarily focused on performance improvements as they reviewed the update’s patch notes. Capcom plans to make changes that will decrease the amount of VRAM used through texture streaming, thus lowering overall VRAM usage. Additionally, they will correct an issue where the Distant Shadow Quality option in Graphics settings displayed inaccurate VRAM usage values. These adjustments are expected to take effect when the update launches on June 30th.

Resolved an issue causing the Estimated VRAM Usage in Display/Graphics settings to be underestimated. This means the displayed VRAM usage will now appear higher, but thanks to additional optimization, the actual VRAM usage has been reduced. Consequently, the current minimum and recommended system requirements remain unaffected.

It seems that those suggested modifications are well-received, yet the players remain skeptical that they will effectively address the game’s problems. This skepticism arises due to persistent concerns about suboptimal CPU optimization, which has been significantly impacting performance more than any other factor since the game’s launch in February with the Wilds expansion.

“In essence, a major disappointment, Capcom,” one user remarks on Reddit. “Why not lower the extremely demanding CPU needs?” Another joins the conversation by saying, “We require CPU optimization as well. It’s primarily responsible for the game running poorly.
