Best Burst & Full Auto Builds for the M16A4 in BF6

The M16A4 is the first burst-fire rifle available in Battlefield 6, and it performs surprisingly well in both close-quarters and medium-range combat. It’s enjoyable to use and has similar stats to the popular DRS-IAR. This makes the M16A4 a flexible weapon that suits different playstyles. In this guide, we’ll share two of our favorite configurations for it.

Best Burst Fire M16 Build in Battlefield 6

Muzzle Standard Suppressor
Barrel Heavy Barrel
Underbarrel QD Grip Pod
Magazine 30-round Standard
Ammo Standard
Ergonomics Aftermarket Buffer
Sight Baker 3x + Canted Red Dot

The M16A4, when fired in short bursts, is very effective at medium distances. While it’s not as accurate as a designated marksman rifle (DMR), it can quickly eliminate opponents with just two bursts aimed at the chest, as long as at least five bullets connect.

  • The Standard Suppressor will keep you off the map and the enemy’s HUD as you’re firing. You can also use the Long Suppressor instead for slightly better recoil management, though it’s ultimately not needed.
  • The Heavy Barrel dampens the effect of weapon bloom as you’re firing your bursts, making the weapon more accurate. The Extended Barrel is a good option too if you’re having trouble hitting moving targets at longer ranges (~70m or more).
  • The QD Grip Pod provides a nice boost to your Control and Precision stats, but more importantly, it significantly stabilizes your rifle when you fire while the Grip Pod is deployed. By choosing this, you’ll be leaning heavily toward a more stationary/defensive playstyle. If you’d rather be more mobile, replace this with the Full Angled Grip.
  • No magazine or ammo attachments are necessary, as the M16A4 in BF6 already has good stats on both of these fronts.
  • The Aftermarket Buffer reduces the visual recoil you experience while shooting. It won’t make your gun kick any less hard, but it’ll smoothen your camera’s movement during your bursts, making targets easier to track (especially when you’re using a magnified optic).
  • The Baker 3x scope is great for mid ranges, and if you use a Canted Red Dot sight, you’ll have an easier time dealing with closer-ranged enemies. I tried using the 4x and 5x scopes on the M16A4, but I opted for the 3x since the gun’s performance at ranges beyond 75 meters isn’t that good, thus removing the need for higher-zoom scopes.

If you hit an enemy in the head from about 20 meters or closer, you can eliminate them with a single burst. This gives the assault rifle a very quick time-to-kill, slightly faster than the TR-7.

Best Full Auto M16A4 Build in BF6

Muzzle Standard Suppressor
Barrel Light Barrel
Underbarrel Adjustable Angled Grip
Magazine 30-round Standard
Ammo Standard
Ergonomics Full Auto Receiver
Sight Any 1x Sight

Installing the Full Auto mod for the M16A4 in BF6 effectively transforms it into an assault rifle comparable to the DRS-IAR in terms of power. If you enjoy using the DRS-IAR, you’ll likely have a similar experience with the full-auto M16. However, there’s a significant trade-off: the Full Auto Ergonomics attachment takes up 25 attachment points, severely limiting your options for other modifications.

  • Again, we’ll be going with the Standard Suppressor just so you stay out of the enemy’s minimap from farther out. However, since the full-auto M16 is more suited for close quarters, you can opt to use any of the other 20-point muzzle brakes if you’d rather have better recoil control. Only do the latter if you know you’ll be spending most of your time fighting indoors or in other tight spaces.
  • The Light Barrel reduces your ADS time while also improving your ADS accuracy. I recommend this over the other barrel attachments because the M16A4’s fast fire rate makes it very susceptible to bloom. Having the Light Barrel installed will let you fire longer bursts without sacrificing weapon accuracy.
  • The Adjustable Angled Grip slightly improves recoil and further reduces your ADS time, making you more competent against players using SMGs or other short-ranged weapons. This will reduce your ADS accuracy, but only while moving, so you’ll still be able to enjoy Light Barrel’s accuracy improvement when shooting at anyone while you’re stationary.
  • No magazine and ammo attachments here too, though I do recommend you try out the 20-round mags. These will improve your strafing speed while aiming down sights, making this BF6 M16A4 build more suited for close-ranged dueling.
  • Full Auto is mandatory if you want to make the M16 fire like the other assault rifles. You can unlock this by reaching Level 15 with the weapon. Since this takes up the Ergonomics slot, you won’t be able to use any of the other mods that belong to this category.
  • Pick any close-range optic you prefer. A sight with a 1x zoom level will have the lowest perceived visual recoil, making it seem like the gun is more stable than it actually is. You can still use this M16A4 build for medium range, but you’ll have to tap-fire if you want to hit your shots consistently.

This BF6 M16A4 build performs best up close. While it can still hit targets at longer ranges, it’s most reliable within 50 meters, especially if you time your shots well. It’s very accurate around 25 meters, and while you can improve its close-quarters combat ability, using the Full Auto modification means you’ll have to make some trade-offs with your build.

I haven’t fully upgraded this weapon yet, but I believe these settings make the M16A4 a great all-around gun in BF6. However, if you prefer a fully automatic weapon, I still think the DRS-IAR is a better option, mainly because it allows for more flexibility in how you customize it.
